Album Info:

This uniform shows the most commonly used items worn by artillerymen in Europe. The M-1 Helmet was introduced in late 1941 and remained in service until the early 1980s. Worn over a wool shirt and trousers, the M1941 Field Jacket was the most commonly worn piece of outer wear. On the M1936 Suspenders are the pistol belt, M1916 holster for the M1911A1 Pistol, magazine pouch, first air pouch and canteen. The "Double Buckle" Boots introduced in 1943 finally eliminated the need for leggings. Officer's Winter Service Uniform, England, 1943. Known as "Pinks & Greens" this uniform is widely regarded the best looking U.S. Army uniform of the 20th Century. The name "Pinks & Greens" comes from the distinctly pink cast of the Olive Drab No. 54 (light shade) shirt and trousers together with the OD No. 51 (dark shade) of the coat. This was the typical uniform worn by artillery officers when not in the field.
