Designed for mountain warfare, this small gun was made in very limited numbers following the end of World War I. It can be disassembled and carried on the backs of five pack animals. It was made by the Bethlehem Steel Company. The howitzer equipped the 2nd and 4th Artillery (Pack) Regiments in the 1920s. The design of this gun helped in the later development of the M1A1 75mm pack howitzer used by airborne forces in World War II.
