Album Info:

This bronze gun was made for Sir Charles Moore, Knight of St. Patrick, Marquis of Drogheda, (1730-1822). Sir Charles was an Irish lord, an officer of the Royal Irish Artillery and a British Army general and field marshal during the Napoleonic Wars. Cast in 1796 by Francis K. Inman, the gun bears the Drogheda arms and motto, "The brave may fall but never yield" and the Royal Irish harp near the muzzle. It is typical of the primary British field piece of the War of 1812.
