Album Info:

Following the end of World War I, the Army convened a board to determine the future of U.S. Army artillery. Known as the Westervelt Board after its president, the Board recommended that the 105 mm be the divisional gun. The M2A1 was the standard division field piece of World War II. It was the most commonly used American artillery piece and equipped 264 field artillery battalions. Large-scale production began in April 1941 and a total of 8,536 guns were produced before production ended in June 1945. The guns also saw extensive use through the Vietnam War.
