Album Info:

The Advanced Combat Helmet (ACH) commonly referred to by soldiers as the "Mitch" replaced the earlier Kevlar helmet. The ACH is lighter and more comfortable with its padded interior that replaced the Kevlar's nylon canvas suspension harness. The black mount on the front of the helmet is for mounting an AN-PVS14 Night Sight for night operations. The Ballistic Eyewear Protection protects the eyes from sand, shrapnel debris and the sun. The Army Combat Uniform (ACU) was introduced in 2005 replacing both the Desert Combat Uniform (DCU) and the Battle Dress Uniform (BDU). The Interceptor Body Armor (IBA) provides protection from small arms fire and shrapnel. The Small Arms Ballistic Plates (SABP) in the IBA withstand a pointblank strike of three 7.62 rounds. The Interceptor armor also has the same webbing grid which accommodates the attachment of various pouches used in the Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment (MOLLE) vest system. This allows a soldier to tailor-fit his MOLLE and body armor system to meet mission needs. Onhis back is the Hydration System known as the Camelback which has largely replaced the canteen.
