Album Info:
The lost tiara "tiara desaparecido" is actually a circlet. This was a wedding gift to Queen Ena from the people of Catalonia. Made by the world famous art nouveau master jewelers Masriera of Barcelona, the photo does not reveal the Masriera touches that differentiate this tiara from most other gothic fleuron tiaras. The tiara was made of diamonds and pearls in a gold frame with multi-color translucent enameling (plique-a-jour) in what appears to be a "Mary Stuart" or "widow's peak" frame. Given the soaring prices that early XX Century Masriera brooches bring at Christies or Sotheby's lately, one can imagine the value of this piece today if it still exists
