Album Info:
The U.S. Army first used rocket artillery in 1847 during the Mexican War. Although successful, rockets were seldom used again until World War II. The T-27 was the first type of 4.5-inch rocket launcher used in combat by the Army. The 121th Field Artillery Battalion used the T-27 during the siege of Brest, France in the summer of 1944. The launcher was placed on the back of a truck or tank. The T-27 proved to be unsuitable and has replaced by the T-32, Xylophone rocket launcher.
