Album Info:

British Captain Theophilus Blakely designed a wide variety of cannon for the export market after failing to win British Army acceptance. Blakely was continuously modifying the designs which resulted in a considerable number of variants of five different calibers of Blakely guns. A fair number of Blakely guns were purchased and used by the Confederacy. This small mountain rifle has the common Blakely feature of a band around the center of the gun which allowed the gun to fit in the standard mountain howitzer carriage. Closely resembling the Type 10 Blakely, this gun, marked 150, appears to be a previously unknown variant.
