This is no place for your twisted politics, MECTb. But no Soviet soldier died for the "Motherland". They all died for Stalin, and no one else. The notion that the fight was for the Mother Russia was a propaganda campaign started by Stalin to motivate the masses. As far as being a "hero", you have no idea whether he was a hero or not. Just being in uniform doesn't make one a hero. In any case he had no choice in whether he would serve Stalin or not.

More than likely this fellow is not a "tanker". It's far more probable that he was on of the masses of infantry who rode on the tops of the tanks into action. He could have been hit my small arms fire, but Russian doctrine was for the infantry to dismount upon first receiving fire. Given the man's proximity to the burned out tank, he was probably killed simultaneously by the same munition that destroyed the tank.

well, it is war and a few moments ago they were probably trying to produce the same results against germans, no innocents on the battlefield.

Horrible scene. So depressing. I suggest to eigenmann81 to burn himself the ground, so that we can have a little fun, at least.

A fallen Soviet hero. He died defending his land. Bad, poor, imperfect country but it is still his Motherland. Children do not chose their mothers. rest in peace brother...Germanic "superior race" would learn a lesson of humility at Stalingrad. PS eigenmann81 your arrogance and disrespect for people who defend their country disgust me. These pictures did not teach you anything, you neo-nazi scum...
