The palace and the fountain

Album Info:
Kadriorg is one of the most beautiful district in Tallinn. The italian master architect designed this magnificent Northern Baroque palace in 1718 on demand of the Russian Tsar Peter I, who intended to use it as summer residence for the royal family. The emperor named the estate for his wife Catherine ("Catherine is "Kadri" in Estonian), hence the name of this area. The palace is now home to the Kadriorg Museum for Foreign Art. The lavish manicured garden outside with flowerbeds and fountains is a wonderful example of a garden in italian style.
