Album Info:
This elaborately decorated Red Moroccan leather saddle was privately purchased. It belonged to James Donaldson (1814-1885) who graduated from West Point in 1836 and served in the 3rd Artillery Regiment. He fought in the Second Seminole War, and the Battles of Buena Vista and Monterey during the Mexican War with this saddle. During the Civil War he was Chief Quartermaster, 8th Army Corps, Military Division of Tennessee.
