Album Info:

HMS Undaunted was a little ship that made a big advance for modern navies. She was built as a destroyer during 1942-44 at Birkenhead, adjacent to Liverpool, where all four Beatles then were children, two born during those same years. She screened a carrier strike against the German battleship Tirpitz and operated in the D-Day assault on Normandy. On D+1 General Dwight Eisenhower, supreme commander, and Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsay, naval force commander, transferred to her after their ship HMS Apollo damaged her propellers on a shoal while observing a landing beach. In 1945 HMS Undaunted in task force 57 supported the operations at Okinawa.
