From the Plattsburgh Press Republican 05/11/03 - A rock festival nearly put Churubusco on the map in 1970 and caused quite a stir, splitting the town on the financial advantages compared to the social disadvantages. Thirty top acts including Steppenwolf, Richie Havens, Sly and the Family Stone, Judy Collins, Grand Funk Railroad and Three Dog Night had been booked for the event. But the Town Board stepped in and passed an ordinance governing everything from circuses to clam bakes and ended up banning the rock performance from the town.
