Album Info:
The replacement for FADAC, TACFIRE was designed to be a total command and control system for field artillery. It established a digital link from the sensor/observer to the shooter. This greatly increased both the speed and accuracy of fires. TACFIRE was housed in an S-280 shelter mounted on a 5-ton truck. It consists of four component groups: computer, display, communications, and power supply and maintenance groups. The system was powered by a 15 kw trailer mounted generator and manned by a communications operator, computer operator, and fire direction officer.
