Hand carved F-106 by John M. Whipple 27 FIS Loring AFB Maine, and 87 FIS K I Sawyer AFB Michigan. My youngest Sister, Lorie, had promised her teacher that I would come talk to her second grade class and tell them about "What I do in the Air Force". I couldn't imagine what I would say to second graders to make them understand "RADAR", so I spent a couple days and carved this wooden Model. The Pitot Boom is a round wooden toothpick...the fuselage and Radome are carved, and the Wings and tail were fashions separately and attached with glue.
