You are quite right about the ethnic minorities! A lot of Russians were killed during the bloody bath of 1937-38 so in Red army you can find people from all of 15 republics! BUT! Here are some data of those who were killed in WW2 of USSR side: Russians -66,4% (5 756 000), Ukrainians - 15,9; Belorussians - 2,9; Tatars - 2,2; Jews - 1,6; Kazakh's - 1,5; Uzbeks - 1,4; Armenians - 1,0; Georgians -0,9 and others are lower. The Third Reich was much more focused on nationalism than any form of racism, even its sub-racial nationalism (Nordicism) wasn't very pronounced, and was chiefly restricted to the intelligentsia. Whenever it came into conflict with German nationalism, its ideals were compromised.
