The first store in Churubusco was established by Carlisle Davidson. A man by the name of Sewell was next in trade at that point, and occupied a little log store. John Humphrey, who had clerked for Sewell, succeeded him. The present store was built in 1865 and has been occupied by John Humphrey, Humphrey and Boomhower, and in 1879 by Rufus R. Humphrey.
