103 year old Chief Warrant Officer Julio 'Jay' Ereneta, USN (Ret.), veteran of World War One and World War Two. In 1934 Ereneta was Radioman/Gunner (Combat Aircrewman) in Squadron VF-5B of aircraft carrier, USS LEXINGTON (CV-2). He flew in the command aircraft of executive officer, LT Leslie E. Gehres, USN. The FF-1 never became operational in the air squadrons of The Fleet. The aircraft had a poor climb rate; the Radioman/Gunner was excess baggage; the tailhook sheared off in the early arrested carrier landings.
