Album Info:
The 5.5 storied Uncanoonuc was built in 1907, and measured 60' x 100', with 37-38 guest rooms and a dining room that sat 120. It burned in 1923, but was replaced during that summer with The Pavilion, a 3 storied structure, which burned in 1930 and was not replaced. Daytrippers could ride to the top from Manchester, by trolley and then by cable car to the summit.

I so enjoyed looking at all the pictures and postcards you've posted. Why is it that things built in earlier times are so much more beautiful? I remember seeing the remnants of this hotel from the Weston Tower area in the early 60's. I believe that early in that decade whatever was left burned to the ground. We also used to go "parking" on Uncanoonuc. No one seems to go there much anymore... Thanks!
