Hay-stacker

Album Info:
This was the most common type of 'stacker' and method of stacking alfalfa used on central Platte Valley farms. (See next photo) Horses were used to raise the load of hay after it was placed on the 'stacker teeth' by a 'hotshot'. A hotshot was an old Model-A Ford with the body removed and driven backwards (engine in rear). I believe parts of old 'horse-sweeps' were used in making these hotshots. The poor quality image is a result of greatly enlarging a detail of the previous photo.
