I was a 98G2LRU based in Idar-Oberstein, but travelled to Meissner on field missions during 1977-79. Thanks for posting this. Really brings back memories.
Wow, four years after I left for the States. Notice no one walking around outside. Everyone is in a building keeping warm. I remember hammering the frost off of the antennas. This frost would build up about a foot in diameter on the antenna elements. You would smack the antenna tower with a 2X4 and jump back.
