I was stationed at the Army Security Agency (ASA) outstation Mt. Meissner from November 1971 until April 1973. With the end of Field Station Rothwesten, Mt. Meissner became part of Border Site Command. Mt. Meissner is the tallest mountain in the lower Hartz near the old East German border. The mountain's eastern slopes were covered with American, West German, and ? listening sites. The "Schwalb" was just down the road between the Mt. Meissner and the ? detachment. I remember that the owners didn't like Americans all that much. I dumped my motorcycle on the hair-pin curve in front of the Schwalb back in 1972.
