Position of Amsterdam: the availabe space for this fort was rather small while the barracks also had to house the crew of the armoured turret. That is why the designers choose the construct a two-level building. Since the turret could also cover the flanks of the forts the two normal traditore batteries with 7,5 or 10,5 cm guns could be replaced by a smaller central caponier with three 5,7 cm guns and three machine-guns.
