Position of Amsterdam: this coastal fort had to protect the port and sluices of IJmuiden that were important for the inundations of the Position of Amsterdam. Its main armament consisted of a turret with two 15 cm guns and a huge armoured battery with five 24 cm guns. The photo shows two embrasures of the armoured battery; the concrete wall on the right covers the observation post. For more photos please visit www.fortweb.net
