HOPALONG CASSIDY was the hero of 28 western novels written by Clarence E. Mulford in the 1920's, 1930's, 1940's. By the 1950's, his movies were shown on television; hence, the Hopalong Cassidy cowgirl outfit Muriel was given for her birthday... Giving testimony to the lasting popularity of this fictional cowboy hero is the very real fact that a dozen of the novels are still in print.
