Album Info:
Immigrants from Quebec began heading south before the Civil War (1856-1865). From 1840 to 1930, approximately 900,000 French-Canadians immigrated to the U.S. The first left the Beauce region of Québec and others from the rest of the province followed. Of course, New Brunswick and Acadia provided their share of immigrants. The "Beaucerons," as they were called, headed toward Maine, along what was known as "The Old Canada Road," some settling in the St. John river area.

In the Davenport and Bettendorf Iowa area along the Mississippi River there are more than 10 Perreaults. I am one of them. There is only one that is not a member of my family. I have not yet been able to contact her to see if we are related somewhere along the line. Thanks. Arthur Perreault mumendad@mchsi.com
