Also known as Cottonwood School, District 28 was located 5 miles north & 4 miles east of Cozad, Nebr. This was my first year of education (first grade). Country kids didn't have the "luxury" of kindergarten. I'm the one right of center, front (with my hand to my forehead). My longtime "best buddy" Ron Kandler is to my right (in the sweater). Miss Lois Wells was our teacher (8 grades). Apparently the sun was "bright" that day.
