  • Hi, Thanks so much for answering all my questions, I found your answers just as fascinating as your photos! I too, find the civil war very interesting and an extremely sad part of our country's history! I am so glad you took such great photos, sorry your camera battery gave out, :-((( but you still came out of it with some fabulous photos. Keep snapping! Candy

  • Candy, We walked as much of the battlefield as possible. Halfway down one of the long trails the camera battery went down and the other battery was charging in the vehicle. As we trekked back to the Jeep to get the other battery we were running out of decent light to photograph. Perhaps the most interesting thing about the battle was the rugged terrain in the area. And the fact that so many lives were lost in one day while most of them are buried in unmarked graves. We have toured almost every Civil War Battlefield in the USA down through the years. Vicksburg and a couple in Virginia are still on our "things we want to do" list. We both are interested in the history of the Civil War. We sympathize with so many who lost their lives for a cause they believed in, both Union and Confederate. We are so both pleased that you found the album interesting! Kay

  • This is an extremely interesting album! Did you walk the whole battlefield? We walked around the battlefield in Vicksburg Mississippi, a couple of years ago and the thing that amazed me the most, was that the area was so very very small, when I studied history in school, I pictured a much larger area! What was the most interesting thing to you and Bil about this battle at Droop Mountain? I am so glad you included the number who died (526) that was very interesting too! Thanks for sharing this bit of history from your state. Candy
