Hi Mr. Plum, My only uncle was Ensign Edward Mauger. I never knew him but heard many things about him and my father, his brother, is still living. It was very interesting looking through these pictures. Thank you for your work. Lorraine Eisele

Hi Mr. Plum, My Father served on the Sargent Bay. His name is Harry Philp On TM3 USNR. Do you have a crew list? Do you have pictures of individual sailors? My father passed away in 1970. His service pictures and mementos have been lost. It would be great to from those who might remember him. I like the pictures on your site. Thank You so much. Rick On onr@comcast.net

Hi Art, What a fabulous album!! My son is Navy and has been on five different carriers throughout his career. We had the pleasure of spending a day out to sea on the USS Enterprise a few years back and what an adventure. The carriers are like a small city afloat. It is always a pleasure to view albums on your site - thanks for sharing. - DeeAnne

I just found two photos of my dad, who was a TBM pilot in VC-79, in your photos!!! He is still living and retired from the Navy after 31 years service. Many thanks for posting your photos. I would love to learn more about the history of his squadron on the Sargent Bay. Any additional info anyone can provide would be appreciated! p_young

Thanks for the fine site. Perhaps you or any other viewers knew Lambert Schowalter, an aviation mechanic from Milwaukee who served aboard the Sargent Bay in '44-45. My wife is his daughter, but he died in 1964 and she knows little of his service. You can email directly at kalth@ruderfinn.com if you have any information which might be helpful.

Thanks Art for your kind message about my webshots pictures of the Kaiten sub that I visited in Hawaii. It led me to your superb photos which I enjoyed immensely! I too served on a small carrier, the U.S.S. Gilbert Islands (CVE-107), but it was during the Korean war. Seeing your pictures brought it all back, but I was lucky in that we never saw any actual combat. My ship looked almost exactly like yours except we had remodeled the bridge and superstructure. We took our ship out of mothballs in 1951, and after 4 years, we retired her again and put her back into mothballs. We too lost planes over the side, over the barrier wires, and crashed into other planes as well as into the island. I didn't have any pictures of it however. Your pictures were fantastic! Thanks for taking the time to put them online for all us swab jockies to see. I'm so very proud of you for doing your duty and defending our country! You are a great guy! = Tom Holst = (formerly QM3) email: tom@mlode.com

Hi Art! This is a really great album!! My two brothers both served in the Navy. Thanks for sharing your memories with this album. Thanks, also, for the nice comments in my Family album. I love to fly, but, I'm not a pilot. We have a close friend who owns his own plane so I get to fly often. My sister is a pilot and really loves it. Am enjoying all the new flower shots you've been putting in also. Will visit again soon. God bless, Shaun

This was such an interesting album for me to view. I will return to see it many times. My Dad served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific. I was just reviewing some notes written me a few days ago regarding the time he served. Viewing your photos made his explanation and notes come to life for me. Thank you so much for sharing this album. Kay
