My name is Pol T. Descamps in Kortrijk Belgium; I was 9 years in 1944; we lived in the old Calmont castle in the park at about 300 m from the V1 site (fleeing Kortrijk(Courtray) for the bombings by the British-Canadian Lancasters); we fled to the valley (Ruien village) on the Saturday Sept 2. the next day at noon the retreating Germans exploded about 80 V&'1, except three of them. Together with my father and brother we were the first on the scene. Trees were still burning..
