  • University of California School of Veterinary Medicine. March 30, 2009 a very impressive ceremony was held at the Faithful Partner memorial to honor the K-9 officers who died in the line of duty. There was an excellent turnout of supporters, including a number of law enforcement officers and their K-9 partners. The Faithful Partner memorial, located between Valley Hall and Schalm Hall, was a concept designed and donated by Bill Balaban. The second year class has taken on the responsibility of maintaining the monument. This year, 11 police dogs were recognized, along with their officer handlers, and added to the memorial. Many thanks to Lt. Nadder Oweis of the UC Davis Police Department, and Celeste Borelli, Vickie Gustafson and Dilan Good of our Development Office team, for organizing this excellent ceremony.
