What a terrifying ordeal. I lived in Oklahoma from 1981 to 1983 and went through many tornado warnings, luckily didn't experience one first hand. However, I did go through Hurricane Andrew in Miami in 1992! Tomas

Hello June, Your album is a good report of the damage a tornado can cause. The power of the tornado is enormous and on the other hand I think the wooden houses are not built very firmly, especially the mobil homes. It is a terrible tragedy causing 3 deaths. Lets hope nature keeps calm for a long long while... Greetz, Tjebbe

Dear June, What amazing photos of this horrible tornado. So much destruction, so much heartbreak! We only know of them here where I live from the news, but when I see all the destruction that happens in such a short period it always makes me realize the power of such a storm and how terrifying it must be to go through. I am very happy to learn you and the kitties were untouched and safe from this storm. Great reporting June! Stay safe, hugs for you and the girls! Leslie

Hi June, The storms just keep on coming. We had tornado warnings up here in Western Michigan last night - I think from the storms starting in Texas and moving up through Arkansas and north. We did not get the promised hail and 70 MPH winds though - it must have fizzled out. This has been a strange spring so far. - DeeAnne :)

Great coverage on your part here June. I heard about that 'monster' when it hit and thought it freakish to occur so early in the year. However with Global Warming, anything is possible. I hope your home wasn't affected by the tragedy and am glad you escaped harm. You did some decent photojournalism of the aftermath. Regards from Ron

Hi June, Thank you for sharing these sobering pictures of Mother Nature's terrifying destructive potential. To think that all this occurred in the space of about 20 minutes! Good to know that your property suffered no damage, but it must have been very frightening. When we experienced the Great Storm of 1987, it sounded as if fists were outside pummelling the window glass and I remember feeling afraid, but it was not until the next morning, when we discovered fences blown over and trees uprooted, that we realized that what we had been experiencing had been a hurricane! The Met Office has failed to predict it, believing that its path would take it away over the sea, so avoiding the land, but it was not to be! Hugs, Kathryn

Wow. How terrible. So many folks tell me how afraid they are of the idea of earthquakes in California. Tornado and hurricane seasons seem a lot more frightening to me (unless I'm on a traffic jam going over the Bay Bridge and happen to think bad thoughts.) Every place we live has its benefits and risks. Thank you for sharing these pictures.

This is so sad. You took some good shots to show us how horrifying it must have been. Were you and yours okay? I sure hope so. We used to live in Indiana and went through Tornado warnings, always opened the windows, I believe it was the opposite site from were the winds came from. we had a crawl space and sort crawled into a heaveyly cemented area were we could sit on some boards and had some water to drink with us. It's about forty years ago that we moved away, but it's not forgotten. We had no cats at the time, but read to watch the cats, because they figure out, where it is safest for them. Have you observed that too?

This is a very sad album June, you have reported the devastation very well. Did you live through this storm yourself? I am lucky that we don't have tornados in Finland. It must be a scary thing to look forward to, I am sure you are being alerted beforehand but does everybody always get the information or be able to take shelter.. I am so sorry for all that has happened there. Merike

Oh June! This album makes every hair on the back of my neck stand straight up...how horrible...! There is just nothing as quick and devastating as a tornado, no warning...Can't tell you how many times we go under the staircase to hide, since we have no basements in this part of Texas (swampland). I am so sorry to see this...you must be devastated emotionally by seing this in person too! Everything o.k. at your place, how about the kitties! I just saw evi's album dedicated to you and wanted to stop and say hello and also tell you thank you so much for your recent visits! God Bless! marita

Always hate to hear about tornadic damage. I was 9 yrs. old and lived in Ohio when the tornados his Xenia in April of that year. I will never forget it. The local firestation (two blocks over) was going off about every 2 minutes, all day long. The sky was a sickly shade of green all day long, and we watched from out basement window as a twister went overhead. It looks exactly like the old commercial we used to see advertising some product or another; a big white mass of twisting, churning clouds rotating around and around and around as it moves away and only turns grey/black if it touches down and picks up debris. Although I didn't live in Xenia, I will remember that day for as long as I live. Thanks for sharing these photos. I think sometimes people don't realize the destruction they cause.
