The sadness in these pictures is absolutely palpable. How tragic that this young man should have had to lay down his life when he was only doing his duty. One's heart is wrung in pity for the family he left behind.

I was sorry to hear that he was, in fact, someone close to you and your family. But I am so proud of our servicemen and for what they do for all of us here at home. I just don't think people realize what an honor it is. You be sure and tell his parents when you see them again that I, for one, want to thank them for their son's bravery and for him being who he was. My heart goes out to them for their loss.
