Photo documentation of life and death at Ground Zero following the collaspe of the Twin Towers on 9/11/01. 40,000 rescuers and volunteers responded to New York's call for help -- and I'm proud to say that I was among them.

Oh, thank you so much! I brought my 18 yr. old son to the t.v. on 9/11 to watch them show the buildings fall. His response was," Why do I have to see this? I saw it happen on T.V.." That is exactly the reason we MUST make our young people watch.. We can NEVER forget!

This is a gut wrenching album that just moved me beyond belief. Thank you for being there, thank God for all that were there that day and a special blessing for those who still suffer from the toxic affects. Pray our government begins and continues the help they so richly deserve. Don't forget, never forget!

After this horrible event, I had a recurring dream about the Statue of Liberty being blown up, so I made a special trip from Florida to visit it, something I had never done during my boyhood in NY. It is a worthwhile pilgrimage to remind us of what America is all about -- a refuge for those seeking a better, freer life.

Great album and photos yet so much sadness and devastation, brings tears to my eyes, unless you were there would be hard to understand just how awful it was. Remembering those who lost their lives or loved ones on this tragic day! x x x x Yvette ( Tasmania Australia )

Many, many thanks to everyone who commented on the 9/11 album here on webshots. I also want to thank FEMA's Andrea Booher for her contribution to this album. Today I joined 200 other Ground Zero responders in reading the names of those who perished during the Attack on America. Needless to say, it was bittersweet event. While working on the pile, we never saw the faces of the missing nor their friends and families. There were no TV's -- no newspapers at the disaster site. But today, (Tuesday 9/11/07) we came face-to-face with them for the first time. When I walked up to the podium at 9:10am, my partner and I were overwhellmed by the thousands standing before us holding out photos of their loved ones and waving so many signs of thanks. There were 20 rescues by official count -- perhaps one hundred others that were never recorded. Those rescues, especially of Port Authority Police Sgt John McLoughlin and his partner Officer Will Jimeno, did a great deal to bolster the spirits of the thousand working at Ground Zero. Unfortunately, only one other rescue was made. Following 9/11/01, some fire-rescue personnel felt that they had failed, and failure is something firefighters, paramedics and law enforcement officers don't take to very well. 70,000 emergency and volunteer responders answered New York City's call for help during the day period following the disaster. They came from every state as well as Canada, Mexico, the UK, Germany, Italy, Israel and France. It was a nation coming together -- the world coming together in the spirit of volunteerism. Some say that we've lost that spirit, but Americans proved again during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita that they were up to the challenge. As Americans, it is one of the things we do best. Helping our neighbors in time of need. Thanks again for the kind comments. They will be shared with all of Ground Zero's responders. Lou Angeli September 11, 2007 (New York, NY)

What a great pictoral representation of a day that we will never forget. It's a horrible act that was thrust upon our nation, but what the terrorists don't realize is that it is our bond that is our strength and what happens to one happens to us all! We will not let this defeat us, and while our loss is deep and will be with us always - it is our memories of those who were lost and the future of those who remain and those who will be born to this great nation that will never let us forget OR let us allow this threat to become a reality. Thanks for sharing your memories, as hard as they sometimes are to see, we need to remember how this tragedy was able to show a nation how to be one people, regardless of race, religion, etc.

Lou, Congratulations on this poignant tribute to all those that lost their lives that terrible day 6 years ago. It is a wound that is still healing and the scars are still so very tender, yet they must never be forgotten. Thank you for your heroism in being one of the many who answered the call for help that day...you are a real hero in the eyes of many, including myself. This album is a fitting reminder that we must now, more than ever, never let our vigilence wane, and to be ever watchful of our borders and skies. Thank you again for sharing this reminder that we are a nation united, and no one can ever change that, no matter what they try to do to us. God Bless America! And God Bless you, Lou.
