  • Hi You know Pyestock very well, I used to do animations of the plant when I worked there. I wish some 'official' account of Pyestock was made like this before its all lost. Its a shame people have to trespass to do it Anyway http://community.webshots.com/user/klempner69 has Cell 3 West inlet confused with an exhauster

  • All the test cells were used for testing aircraft engines. Cell 4 last ran in 1980/81. Built for testing concorde engines. Has been used as a movie set a few times. Red Dwarf, The Bill and a film called Sahara, with Penelope Cruz. DSC0004 is called the DAM, Dry Air Main. Used to bring air to Cell 3West.DSC0033 is the control panel mimic for icing trials. Standing on Cell 3W is the cooler. This used to cool atmospheric air below zero. A fine spray of water upstream of the engine intake would freeze causing ice to build up on the engine inlet. The mimic panel controlled the spray rake.
