These were the shots that inspired me to put up my shots of the Chico Titan I base. When I first discovered the base, I was awestruck at both the scale of the facility and its condition. I spent almost 20 years trying to learn what I could about these bases, and only in the last couple of years has information appeared online. My uncle was a career Navy man and he impressed upon us as kids the pride and professionalism that drove the meticulous training, maintenance and readiness efforts that was his experience. Having seen the ops manuals of the Titan I facilities from some websites, it's clear the bases ran on a whole other level entirely. It really does drive home what their current condition says about modern times and how far we've come to get here, not to mention what we've forgotten on the way. Seeing the level of detail your shots provide of one of the program's most critical systems only adds to one's appreciation of just how complex an undertaking it was, particularly so in light of technological infastructure in place at the time. I hope more engineers take time to share their experience as you have done here. Thanks for doing so.
