  • Graduation was even better than Blue. Very well run, good display of a squad assault in a Bradley Attack Vehicle. The Troops marched in to the Band, and the stands were filled with cheering families. The rain started to fall at the start, but quit in time. I have posted a few photos in my page. Hope everyone had a great day.

  • Turning Blue was as special as has been described by the others. D Company was truly outstanding. The rain held off until after lunch, and we are now hearing all of the stories of training, vegetable omelete MRE's, The FTX, and the Grand Finale, Honor Hill. Hope all are well, more to come...

  • Hello, this is Jeanine from F company. I went to the graduation on March 2nd. I stayed at Olson Hall on Base. I was alone that is probably why. Let me tell you Fort Benning is a really BIG place. It is a city in itself. My cab ride from columbus airport cost about $35 dollars. Once on the base. there are restaurants, clubs. i will tell you there is not alot of time to spend with your soldier. they keep them very busy. It all depends on where your soldier is going next. i.e. infantry, airborne, stryker. etc. They have a briefing for families and picture taking session before the graduation. If you really want alot of information F company has over 2300 posts. at the end look and you wil get alot of advise. It was a god sent for me. check it out Jeanine Army Mom of Ed Bolen, now Delta company-Airborne 507th inf.

  • HI all!!! I'm totally new here! My fiance is a part of D Co 258! He's #139. I'm sooooo excited to go see them next week! Has anyone heard from their soldier yet? The letter the Army sent said that they would call home today (March 6) to let us know how everything in FTX went. Has anyone heard from their Delta Dawg? LOL. Also, anyone (from any co.) have any advice on staying in Columbus or things to do or what to expect in general?? I would reaaaallly appreciate anything! Thanks! :O) Proud fiancee of Pvt. Mendez #139. HOOAH!!!

  • Y'all, here is the speech given by the CDR at the graduation of D Co. in July '06. I believe CDR White articulated what is in our hearts. * http://www.blackfive.net/main/files/pdf_copy_7_july_graduation_speech_ltc_randolph_c1.%20White%20Jr..pdf * Enjoy. • LOVE BUMP (This is to bump your postings up and let you know B Co is thinking of you)! We noticed that is seems that the number of pics that Chaplain Rusack posts is in direct relation to the number of post to a company's site. • The USPS has a program for military family members and friends to supply them with packaging materials to send packages to troops overseas. If you call 1-800-610-8734 and select option # 1, Ask them for the "Military pack" they will send you boxes, tape, packaging materials and labels. They will also give you an I.D. number so if your supply runs low, you just call them up and they'll send you more supplies. The materials take about four to ten days to receive. I Don't know if any of you have mailed any packages lately, but if you go to mail box etc., they will charge you for the box, tape, peanuts, labels and everything else the can think of! After a while, those charges start to add up! This is just FYI. I thought it was a pretty good deal and wanted to try and get the word out to anyone that didn't know about this program. The USPS also offers a http://www.usps.com/supportingourtroops/ page on their web site with links to guidelines for packing, addressing, and shipping items to U.S. troops. Rhonda

  • Hi Everyone, I'm an F-Co. Grad. March 07 mom. Just wanted to stop by and let you know that a bunch of us check these sites regularly, and if you have any questions about anything, we are here for you!! We are all in this GREAT ADVENTURE together. Have your guys tell their buddies about this site, so their families can come on board! Proud Mom of Pvt. Daniel J. Hogestyn #225. (Pam)

  • Great job Kim, you've covered all bases...you're kinda like my battle buddy it seems like we're always covering each other's backs...I couldn't have asked for anyone better! Bynes, thanks for asking about the boys...OOPS, I mean guys. Right now Brandon is waiting for his orders to come in. Everyone in RIP hold were told that they'd get their orders this last Tuesday, but they haven't heard anything. It's my gut instinct that their orders may be changing due to the President's wish to bring over 20,000+ troops into Iraq and that is why they haven't gotten them yet. My son has been trying to prepare me...he keeps telling me that it probably won't be IF but WHEN he gets deployed. I'm quite the worrier, so I'm trying to be optimistic and not really think about it until it's in black and white and do my upmost to keep other parents that have soldiers going over in strong spirits. Proud to be a mom of an American soldier!...Lisa

  • Hey Bynes, I wasn't sure where to post this. I was looking for posts from you on the F Co. site and there haven't been any recent ones. So I am going to answer your question here. As far as Rory he is doing good, he says it is very difficult, but he is finally starting to get the hang of it and actually enjoying it a little. We don't hear from him much during the week, I think he is too busy. Brandon got a bad deal though, he did all his push-ups for the PT test to qualify for RIP, but they said he went into the rest position too soon! They failed him and told him he could retake it in a week, then start the next RIP class in a month. He decided to drop his RIP contract for now. A lot of the guys say Benning is like Hell, worse then. And, they can't wait to get out of there. So I think the prospect of staying longer just wasn't something he was willing to do. He says he may do RIP in the future though. Thanks for asking. Now I am just holding my breath that Rory succeeds, there were about 140 guys to start, and last we heard they were down to 80 something. They quit, get injured, or get kicked out for different things. One of Rory's friends got kicked out for listening to his head phones while shaving. They are not allowed to talk to anyone who failed the PT test, who dropped out, anyone who is waiting to start RIP and anyone from Airborne. I think the only ones they really are supposed to talk to are the guys in their units. They are very strict!! So it is just a Praying time right now for us. Well gotta go, TTYL God Bless, A Very Proud "Army Strong" Mom of PVT Rory Payne, Kim

  • Thank you Kim for the assist...you guys are great... I assumed it was for after graduation..Angel re-read the first (my only) letter from Benning...I think theres something in there that says that the Christmas Excodus would be the only one for the March 2,07 group...if I could find my letter I'd check for you..(this Mom is not sleeping much...) *******Kim....How is Rory and Brandon doing ? I've been reading yours and Lisas posts about your sons going through advanced training... my son seems to want to follow in your sons footsteps...so I've been reading your posts on C Co to learn all I can before I follow in your footsteps... These boys are growing into such amazing young men so quickly... Good luck Angel and my apology for the confusion... Proud F Co. Mom of Warrick, Dean #154 (known to Mom and family as Matt)

  • The 36 hour pass that sugar 1604 was referring is after basic, before AIT (Advanced Infantry Training) I wish I could give you exacts, but not really sure myself. I believe basic is 9 weeks, but because they had time off at Christmas you need to know if they are making up those days, and exact dates. I hope this helps, A Very Proud "Army Strong" Mom of PVT Rory Payne, Kim

said of painpak painpak 2007.01.16 at 21:41:34 PST

  • from what i understand so far the 72 hour pass isn't a given... it depends on alot, where they will be stationed etc. We are all in the same boat of not knowing for sure if we'll get 8hrs or 3 days... driving helps keep it flexible but I read from one Mom that flights can be changed for a $25 dollar fee if you need to change flights. I'd check with airline when you make reservations on what their restrictions are... Good Luck and God Bless... F Co & C Co has alot of info if you have time to read over 900 posts... but everything can change from one group to another, so we're taking our best guesses alot.

  • Armyfiance, If you are looking on the website infantry.army.mil/itb/ then going to ITB you should be able to get the correct info. Also in your letter, there may be an email for the captain of your fiance's co. I know with ours he was very good about answering our emails. I hope this helps, because you don't want to wait until they send the graduation info or it will cost you and you will have a hard time finding lodging. Which I suggest staying at Uchee Creek on the base, very reasonable rates, and a lot of other family members stay there. Good Luck, and God Bless. A Very Proud "Army Strong" Mom of PVT Rory Payne, Kim

  • I would like to know if anyone has the correct date for graduation. I was sent the form letter saying that my fiance graduation is March 24 but on the Fort Benning website it says March 11. I need to start planning to come down there and I can't if I don't have a date.

  • Lots of information in F-Co comment section... info on graduation & 72 hour leave, the turning blue cermony and their 8 hour pass and ideas for Graduation (things our soldiers will need) and info on seeing off our soldiers at the airport: military id gets family members a pass to the gates to say goodbye instead of at the security line... check out F Co comments for details... • Dear Co D, Looks like Lisa has done a good job leaving you some good info. One thing I'd like to add, go check out the C Co grad Nov.06 page, and read some of the comments. You will see just what a great support this can be if you let it. Good Luck, and God Bless! A Very Proud "Army Strong' Mom of PVT Rory Payne, Kim

  • Here is some information that I hope will get you started: you may stay on post at lodging or at a place called Uchee Creek Campground, which has nice houses and cabins for rent. Another option will be to get a hotel around Exit 10 on Highway 185 (this is closest to Sand Hill...for graduation). However, I'm told that it's not the cleanest neighborhood... so check out hotels around Exit 7, the Holiday Inn or others that are around this location where there's a really nice Peachtree Mall, great restaurants and attractions. You can call Ft. Benning lodging and see what they have available at (706) 689-0067 or visit the internet site at the below location. http://benningmwr.com/lodging31905.htm. Lodging gets filled up quickly, so make your reservations NOW. Good luck to all of you and a big HOOAH! goes out to all your wonderful soldiers. A very proud ARMY STRONG mom of PVT Brandon Jones (Company C).

  • Awesome pictures Chaplain Rusack! **************To the families of DELTA COMPANY... start leaving comments on this site because it'll become a great source of information about your soldier and who he's battle buddies with, along with graduation and lodging info. You'll also get to experience wonderful camaraderie with all the other families that may last a life time and gain you support while your soldier is away. So come on Company D, get on board! We'd love to hear from you. HOOAH! Lisa, Proud ARMY STRONG/FAMILY STRONG mom of PVT. Brandon Jones (C Company NOVO6 grad)
