Hey Stephanie, sorry I haven't checked Echo lately. Yes we have a beautiful grand daughter, Violet Knox Simonds, and Uncle Paul has your phone number. I called Terry and he left me a message, so I texted back. Call when you have the baby and I will give you my email address. We need to send pics to each other. Or call sooner so we can see how you guys are doing. Wanda aka Nanna

Hello everyone! I just got back from Fort Riley, Kansas. Wow, it's so different from Ft. Benning. I think it's in the middle of...geez, let me think...nowhere. Anyway, I spent some time with Terry and helped him find our apartment. I've come home to deliver our first baby. I still have about 10 weeks until the due date. Then, we'll go back with him. How's everybody else? And your soldiers? Wanda, any news with a new granddaughter yet? I hope all is well. Keep in touch. Stephanie

Stephanie, ironic but once again I did not find you...after the guys marched off for their orders I had an amazing conversation with a VIP...then headed to get Paul and find out who we were shuttling to the airport.... but Paul hung out with Terry, so we have your number. Need to keep in touch before the little guy arrives.... Enjoy your time with Terry....hugs,Wanda

o.k. back from Airborne graduation. If anyone from Echo checks in give us an update on your soldiers progress. Paul graduated Airborne Friday with a number of Echo guys. OUr own Pvt.Daniel Seeberger was an honor graduate. Hooah! Daniel you are "so squared away" and will be in our thoughts and prayers as you head to Ft.Riley with the big red one! Pvt.Gary Sharp, our GQ soldier, is headed to Ft.Campbell, air assault....headed there with our Chaplain Rusack. Hooah! We took Pvt.Ryan Placher to the airport heading to home...MIchigan then on to Italy with the 173rd.... keep in touch guys....

Want to make sure you all get this VALUABLE PIECE OF INFORMATION***** You can accompany your soldier inside the airport, to the actual boarding gates...when he gets his tickets and shows his military ID, all you need to do is show your license and they will give you a visitor's pass to go through security (anybody UNDER 18 needs to check in as well so they get a pass, but no ID required). I seen a lot of families in the airport saying their tearful farewells at the security area because they didn't know...I've spread the news to everyone I could... It'll give you that much more time with your loved one before they depart. :) Lisa, Proud ARMY STRONG/FAMILY STRONG mom of Pvt. Brandon Jones

Hey Lauren, contact Chaplain Rusack. If you call him he will probably know something or you can call the commander. Look at the infantry website for the numbers. Let me know if you need help with the numbers. I know that is where the army has a training facility for the guys. Hope that helps. Wanda :)

Hello all!!! I just made it back today from Ft. Benning. It was a long trip home. Anyway, the Turning Blue ceremony was so emotional. And Graduation was awesome! They finally did it! The weekend was great and I'm glad that I got to spend some time with my hubby. It was so sad to have to leave him though. It makes it so much easier now that I can talk to him everyday. However, he is also in Airborne right now and will graduate March 30th. I am hoping to make it down there again to see it. Wanda, he said he spoke to your son today. He mentioned to him that we've posted comments to each other on here. Hopefully, when I come to his Airborne graduation we can finally meet. It was hard to find people at the ceremonies, especially when we were on the opposite sides of the field. I hope everyone enjoyed their time with their soldiers and made it home safe. God bless all of you and all our soldiers. Stephanie, Proud Wife of Pvt. Terry Battison

Will there be a way you can talk to Sheffield and ask him to MAKE SURE the new chaplain posts on these sites the new address so we can all meet the new families and help them as we have done. Wanda, if possible, I'd love to have them mailed. I'm so excited about them! David is roster #552 charlie in Airborne. All I know about David's roommates is that their names are Mike, Matt and Lee and they are all prior servicemen. The last time I talked to him, he had gone to see a movie and then was heading to the PX to pick up a few things. He's so happy to have a little more freedom. I'm happy for him too because that means more communication! Anyway, I'll send you my address for the bracelets. Thank you so much!!

Wish Foxtrot was as lucky with the weather. We were at cabin #12 and my inlaws were at #22. We had a bonfire Thurs.nigth before taking the guys back. We had Soderman,Shaw, & Simons at our cabin. Thought we would have more, but they decided to go into town. Only one guy was late getting back & he ran up while they were in formation. Not bad huh! Paul is roster #253 alpha, he is rooming with Schuster and Seeberger. Paul had fire guard Friday night from 1800 to 2200. It was a loooooong day! talk with you soon. I'm also coming down for Airborne Graduation on March 30, so hopefully this time I will see you!! I will let you know David's new roster number when I know it. He didn't tell me, so I don't know if he hadn't gotten it yet or just didn't think to tell me. I hope you had a great time with Paul. I did the same thing...ran up to David and left everyone behind. Stephanie I didn't find you at graduation so let me know your address so I can send you the 5 bracelets. They went really fast. I found Fran when I spotted Pvt.Derek Weeden and met his grandparents. But I was busy with our Chaplain Rusack and then I met Lt.Colonel Sheffield and his wife Tricia. So I didn't find Chelsey,Lauren,or Stephanie. Most of 4th platoon family was to the right side. I was the crazy lady with the blue scarf. Turning blue ceremonies were so emotional. I ran to Paul and left everyone behind! My hubby did the actual cord and then we took pics. Pvt. Walden's dad is a green beret, so he was putting the cord on several guys that didn't have family. Wow, how awesome was that! We took 2 guys back to the cabin with us and invited more. Later in the day we had several guys trying to call us, but it was too late to get them over to Uchee.

Actually it depends on how organized the drills are beforehand on how long in-processing takes for Airborne...and how many are going. Plan on waiting a while, however it could be less time than imagined. At graduation ask the drills, they should be able to get you an estimate.... Good Luck! Paulsmum: I know you are at the graduation right now. But, I wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and all the Echo soldier's families. I would love you be there again and watch you all celebrate. I was great for me and I am thinking of all of you. Wanda wanted to let you know that Ed Bolen is now in Delta. Two blocks from Olson and staying in the barracks. Make sure he looks up Ed. He is going to Fort Bragg after Airborne. If Paul is going there too. Maybe we can finally meet in North Carolina after they get settled. Wouldn't that be cool? Jeanine.

Echo, hope you heard from our guys today! I got a phone call around 11:30 a.m. and headed out the door at noon. Got to the main base about 2:15p.m. Had a wonderful visit with some of Echo as they recalled FTX and where they will be stationed. I am beaming with pride after being with our guys today. Took girl scout cookies and rice crispy treats. Can't wait until Thursday....their pass was until 5p.m. I got Paul & 2 other soldiers back to Sandhill, dropped them at the front of the barracks, and went to pull away when an indicator light came on....so I turned off the car, pulled out my manual, called my husband & proceeded to "analyze" the situation. Not paying much attention until I hear my son's name. The drill sargaent is bringing me to everyone's attention...so I guess my son and everyone in my car got smoked! I got out of my car and yelled that my engine light was on, but oh well..... It was my battery light and it was a simple correction. BUT THE REST OF THE WAY HOME I CRIED LIKE A BABY... now I know how our soldiers are humiliated in basic. I was humiliated and embarrassed...Bittersweet day, but countdown to Thursday. Echo got a letter from Pvt.Paul today...it was 3 pages about FTX....while they were at their FOB (forward operating base) Simons (Paul) and Titus were in the base tent (communications center) from 3a.m to 4a.m. when they hear sounds of something rattling, like paper. Is it the C.O. or the 1st sergaent (everything is pitch black) long story short it is a skunk (they assume female because of her coloring) after much whispering and discussion they decide to let her go about her business. OOPS...didn't mean to send the PS. part yet... Ok, here goes. PS>>>> Families of E CO. when you are at Turning Blue and Graduation, please look around and see if there is a soldier without family and make sure to go up and congratulate him, give him a hug, share a moment of laughter, take him out to lunch (whatever); I'm sure whatever gesture you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I was lucky and had the honor of placing the Blue Cord on my son's battle buddy (I didn't know it at the time)...but he didn't have family there and it broke my heart, then to come to find out that this fine soldier was also my son's 'lookout' man...Wow, I was extremely honored to say the very least. Yes, you will have to enter the field while your soldier is in formation. They will be standing at attention and will be able to be 'at ease' once you get to him. He may follow you with his eyes until you reach him, but not much else until you get there. He will have to stay in formation but can hug, kiss, talk, take pictures etc while you are there, but really they can't move about too much. I agree, the Ceremony is pretty brief but the most memorable experience you'll ever come away with. One day closer E company...I feel your excitement build! Thank you Lisa and Kim! I was wondering about the scarves, ect. but since no one seemed to be posting I didn't think it would be a practical idea anyway. I purchased an INFANTRY BLUE scarf in Peru last summer. I NEVER buy blue, usually red or hot pink!, but some reason I was drawn to the blue. Now I know why....It's suppose to be warm next week, but I am taking my alpaca scarf anyway! and no reason to apologize about scarves..our site wasn't seeing much activity :( but now we are, HOOAH! Today is horrible weather.....tornado watch and warnings. At least tomorrow looks better, but today I don't think Foxtrot will mind because they will be with their men. I will be looking for Chelsey and Danielegirl when I see their guys roster #'s. I know about 30 of the 4th platoon and a couple from 2nd platoon. And I met Francesca a few weeks ago (felt like I already knew her, when I picked Derek up at the airport I got him talking...haha) Echo company we will have time to meet folks when we have "family time" .....and all the FUTURE wives can go to the spouse meeting. That meeting is TOO important. If you don't have a car, find someone who does and don't be too shy to ask for a drive. These guys know each other very well by now and hopefully no one will be shy.... My mini cooper is amazing! and my daughter is driving her Honda Element...not sure if I can bring my Dad's van? Looks like my Dad won't make the trip, so hopefully I wil be able to take Paul home to Atlanta for the weekend. THE GUYS HIT HONOR HILL LAST NIGHT AT 8:00 P.M. and I talked with Jeanine from Foxtrot. She could see the glow of the fire and hear the sounds of Honor Hill while she and I were talking.....awesome! Don't be disappointed if we don't get a phone call right away...they will be really tired & getting ready for our visit......Hooah,Wanda proud mom of Infantryman, Pvt. Paul Simons, #411

Also they are having a spousal meeting on family day. And since my fiancé and I are planning on getting married do you think they would let us attend. It would be so helpful to be able to go. Just wondering if anyone knew about how lenient they are about those things, and if we would be able to attend

I too always checked this site out and read the comments but never posted until a few days back. It's amazing what I have learned on this page since my fiance has seemed in the dark about almost everything. I guess they keep them on a need to know basis. I'm so excited to hear from Joel. I can't wait. I too was wondering what I should wear to the graduation. I'm not sure how the weather is going to be for next week. Does anyone else??

Gosh I can't tell you how bad I feel for not getting scarves made for E Company...For the longest time it seemed like Wanda was the 'one-woman-show' and we adopted her into the fold in the other company sites...please accept my sincerest apologies. *By the way, there is never a stupid question...that's how we all learn and pass the information on to others... There is not a certain dress code for any of the ceremonies. I seen all types of dress....from more formal to very casual. However, I would say the majority went inbetween and wore what I would call business casual (khakis and button up shirt). I personally wore jeans both days and felt comfortable and never out of place. The Turning Blue Ceremony is when your soldier will be wearing his formal Class A uniform. Graduation they will wear their ACU (camos). However, I seen more people 'dress up' for graduation the other. I also noticed that wives and girlfriends seem to be the ones 'dressed up'. :) If you'd like, you can click on my icon, right next to this posting and go to my album marked Graduation and there will be many pics to look at... Congratulations to your husband and all his buddies in E Co. One day closer to graduation! HOOAH!! Lisa, Proud mom of an American Soldier, Pvt.Brandon Jones

Thank you for the thoughts and suggestions. I'm so excited that I would've probably not even thought about bringing all of those items. This may sound stupid, but is there anything in particular that we should wear for the Turning Blue Ceremony and Graduation? Also, how is everyone going to be identifying themselves? I would love to meet everyone. Also, I'm still waiting for a phone call. Hope I'm not the only one. I know they're busy, but I can't wait to hear from my husband. Proud Wife of Pvt. Thoughts and suggestions on what to pack for graduation: Binoculars (you'll want to zoom in when your soldier first marches onto the field) Blanket (to either sit on or keep your legs warm...those bleachers are hard!) Camera (to take LOTS of pictures so you can post them later for all of us to see..hint, hint) Umbrella (just in case...)Plastic (yes, I mean credit cards...there are souvenier tables and formal pictures you can buy, along with DVDs and everything else you can imagine). ***Formal pictures you ask?...MAKE SURE TO GET TO TURNING BLUE CEREMONY EARLY. 1) you'll get a better seat when the commander talks with the families and shows a slide show 2)If you are planning to purchase formal pictures of your soldier with his Class A uniform it is a first come first serve for sitting times..they take the formal pics AFTER the ceremony. There are several packages you can choose...1 pose, 2 pose, 3 pose and how many pics you want. The packages are pretty spendy, but worth it. You'll get your pictures developed right after they are taken (even better!). Once more my congratulations go out to your soldiers...have a good night sleep. That offering of shelter was very sweet of you Spaz...WOW. ***E Co. family don't be too disappointed if you don't hear from your soldier. They are more than likely VERY tired from their 12 mile march and REALLY dirty. After their celebration on Honor Hill and get their rifle pins they will head to the showers, and then dive for their beds to get a decent night's sleep...then awaken to a Warrior's Breakfast where they will do skits about their drill sgts...this next week will actually be the hardest...cleaning and inventory. They will get VERY LITTLE sleep and this duty will grate on their nerves...however, they will see the light at the end of the tunnel and count the hours till Graduation. If and when you do hear from your soldier, please post and share their experiences. HOOAH! Lisa Proud mom of an American Soldier, Pvt. Brandon Jones

Okay, this is something I would NEVER under any circumstances normally do. But I live about 2 1/2 hours from FT Benning. If there are any families out there who can not make the trip due to financial burden you are more than welcome to come and stay with me in my modest little apartment. I would hate to think that lack of finances would keep you away from such an important day and I put my faith in God that he will protect me and my family and I feel compelled to make this offering. If anyone feels that they would benefit from this offering please contact me at spazzy_ga@hotmail.com and will can discuss arrangements. God bless all the families...

8:00 PM EST – At that time that I will be headed from home from work, so here comes my post now… Dear Soldiers of E Co.: You have come so very far in this journey, and although I do not know you, I am very proud and honored that you have made the decision to defend this mighty nation that we may continue to know freedom. As you continue in the next step of this incredible journey in your life, I want to extend my best wishes to you all. From the words of Norman Vincent Peale’s Positive Power for Daily Living, “The American people have ever been compassionate for the less fortunate. Our traditions of freedom demand that we give succor to those who struggle for freedom.†May GOD bless each and every one of you, keeping you in the safety of His hands. Dear Families and Friends of the Soldiers of E Co. – Thank you for supporting your Soldier in his decision to defend our county. Your continuing support, love and encouragement will forever be appreciated by your Soldier. May the Lord be your stronghold while your Soldier is away where ever he may be. Again from the words of Norman Vincent Peale’s Positive Power for Daily Living, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me†(Philippians 4:13 KJV). This truth is an antidote for every defeated feeling. If you feel downed by situations and the going is hard, this statement will remind you….that Christ is with you and is now giving you all the help you need. GOD bless each and every one of you. Forever in my prayers – Chelane. Proud and Honored mom of PFC Phillip R. Connell #306 2/58.

Almighty God, fill the emptiness in my soul. My darkness, disappointment, disillusionment, and brokeness I give you all. I claim you as my strength in this hour of utter despair and weakness. Infuse me with your power. Give me clear vision and steadfastness of soul. See past my feebleness, flaws, and failures and move me in the direction of your will. Cause the miracle of hope to rise in my heart. Cause the sun to rise upon my life again. In your mighty name I pray. Amen." Gooood Morning Echo Co...so your guys are in FTX this week. What a precious time for them. They are learning more about themselves and about each other. As the week progresses and they get closer to Honor Hill, their hearts will race faster and they will push harder and then they will be there with tired eyes and aching bodies and the biggest smile on their faces you have ever seen. As parents, and wives and girlfriends and siblings and famliy you have had concerns and still have some. Anxiety for the guys is uilding in you. That is normal. Don't let the anxiety to paralyze you. Keep the faith and remember I Samuel 17:47: "The battle is the Lord's." As we from Foxtrot Co. go through our celebrations this week, we will be remembering in our prayers the guys from Echo Co. I'm not sure about uniforms for babies, but if you can't find one you should dress him in BLUE just like the color for the Infantry is sky blue! I know Bass Pro shops usually have camo for babies. not sure if that helps, but I am wearing a sky blue scarf. Our guys will be going to Honor Hill soon. (Wed. about 8p.m. to be exact) Hooah! Francesca, we'd be glad to assist or answer any questions you may have...look forward to hearing from you (thanks Wanda). ****I want to share some valuable information that will come in handy in the near future: 1) If you are trying to get the best airfare for your soldier to come home on GO TO THIS WEBSITE: www.bluestarmoms.org/airf are.html 2)You can accompany your soldier inside the airport, to the actual boarding gates...when he gets his tickets and shows his military ID, all you need to do is show your license and they will give you a visitor's pass to go through security (anybody UNDER 18 needs to check in as well so they get a pass, but no ID required). This will give you extra time to spend with your soldier before they board their plane. At Christmas it broke my heart to see tearful families saying their goodbyes at the security checkpoint...not knowing they could have more time with their soldiers, I spread the word to everyone I came into contact with...those tears turned to tears of joy. Have a great evening, Lisa PROUD ARMY STRONG/FAMILY STRONG MOM OF PVT.BRANDON JONES

Hey Wanda! Im sorry to hear about your dad! I know how hard that is, my mom is only 45 and had the same thing happen to her. I heard from James. His letter took about 4 days to get to me. He wrote monday and I received it on friday! He said they were excited! He passed his last PT test with flying colors, and all that praying paid off! Im glad to hear the weather is mild. I will be so happy to see some warm weather. It has been frigid here in NY. James was the one who directed me to this site. So i find it wierd that most of the guys dont know about it. Keep in touch! Paul said 4th platoon does get more mail than anybody (or maybe they have DI's that deliver!) but when I have met guys from his platoon they don't seem to know about the site. I have tried to spread the word. I'm trying not to stress. Have turned all my anxiety over....my Dad had not one, but 3 stents yesterday and also had a heart attack during the procedure. He is in ICU at St.Joes in Atlanta. Now his carotid surgery will be delayed. And of course my son isin FTX, but the weather is mild at Benning and will remain that way for the week (Hooah!) The USPS has a program for military family members and friends to supply them with packaging materials to send packages to troops overseas. If you call 1-800-610-8734 and select option # 1, Ask them for the "Military pack" they will send you boxes, tape, packaging materials and labels. They will also give you an I.D. number so if your supply runs low, you just call them up and they'll send you more supplies. The materials take about four to ten days to receive. I Don't know if any of you have mailed any packages lately, but if you go to mail box etc., they will charge you for the box, tape, peanuts, labels and everything else the can think of! After a while, those charges start to add up! This is just FYI. I thought it was a pretty good deal and wanted to try and get the word out to anyone that didn't know about this program. The USPS also offers a http://www.usps.com/supportingourtroops/ page on their web site with links to guidelines for packing, addressing, and shipping items to U.S. troops. Rhonda

The guys of Echo company did get a pass today....from 4th platoon there were 3 that did not get a pass. I headed to Sand Hill hoping to hear from Paul and I did. I met him at the Afterhours club across from Airborne barracks & towers. Took loads of sweets & water in the back of the mini. We ate at Subway & the guys got some internet time. The guys I met/saw today were Sockwell,Soderman, Street,Taylor,Titus,Weede n,Workman. Everyone was positive and amazing how they have pulled together. I am so proud of them and counting down to March 8th&9th. I am fortunate to live so close, but more fortunate to enjoy such wonderful brave men. Hooah, proud Mom of Pvt. Paul Simons #411. (BTW the weather was cool & clear) Hope everyone heard from their soldier, I passed my cell phone around when I could, it had no bars by the time I left for Atlanta) Romans 8:28

Gloria, No, there is no way to know if there will be anytime off for your soldier. Until he graduates and gets assigned to a unit. If he is going on to Airborne and possibly RIP then chances are he wont get time off again after graduation until he has finished all his training. I hope this helps. HI all! This is David's mom, #419. I hope everyone is having a good Valentine's Day and has been able to send some letters/cards to our PVT's. Thank you Chaplain for posting the pictures. It helps us adjust to the new life our sons are leading. Does anyone have any advice on how to schedule plans? I know there is Air Bourne training after graduation but is there anyway to know what to schedule around for April? Particularly around Easter? Thanks, Chaplain, for being there as an encouragement for our young men. Keep praying for them all! Gloria

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE!!!!! ******My very own Battle Buddy, Kim Payne sent out an email of a Soldier Mom's Prayer that I wanted to make sure everyone got to read: God Bless my son as he falls to sleep, I pray this night the peace to keep. When he wakes to start the day, I pray that love will lead the way. If there's danger and if there's strife, Please send Angels to guard his life. Keep him safe and free from fear, Bless my soldier and keep him near. Until he's home, until he's safe, Bring peace to our hearts and strength to our faith.

The schedule includes malone 22 range, LFX (live fire ex's) ,police range, squad team tactics, and so many abbreviations that I don't understand! He also asked me to send him a foot scrubber. O.K. Echo company let's hear from you guys! Its Simons #411 Mom, Wanda here. Got a letter from Paul with a very detailed schedule for the week. They should have had a 5 mile RUN today in "lovely" weather. It is very cold here in the suburbs of Atlanta and Ft.Bennings temps are similar. We had icy precipitation today, but the temps at Benning are suppose to be warmer during the day, then cold at night. Hope somebody from Echo Company will give a shout-out. Countdown is now less than 4 weeks! Hooah....proud mom of Pvt. Paul Simons #411..... still hoping for more pics of our soldiers in Echo Company.

It's like a motel room and there is a Burger King across the street, Taco Bell and store and a PUB!!!. all on base we don't have to travel anywhere. Taxi cabs are about 2bucks if you don't feel like walking and we are close by the boys. I like that feeling. I will be traveling alone because my husband has to work, other son in college in NY/ So....Here I go...on my own!!LOl Jeanine (neener.1955@yahoo.com) Home phone # (949)916-4722) Call me and I will give you my cell . Hi E Company! I just wanted to let everyone know about staying at Olsen Hall on base. If you aren't staying at Uchee you should definitely make your reservations there. I am currently in my room at Olsen after visiting my boyfriend (PFC in E Co) who had a pass. The rooms are only $32 and are safe, clean and right on base as opposed to the ones out in Columbus (and trust me it is pretty "ghetto" just outside the base). My room has a double bed, TV, internet, fridge, microwave, blow dryer, iron, in other words everything you want or need in a hotel. Lauren, you should definitely call Olsen and get a room here instead. The number is on the MWR site (benningmwr.com i think). Check it out!

Just a note about Airborne hold...it may happen. My son Brandon had his paperwork screwed up and ended up being placed on hold for almost 2.5 weeks...and he wasn't alone, there were at least 50 or so others who were on hold as well. So nothing is a certainty as we are quickly finding out. Being on hold is hard according to Brandon because you don't get your regular pay and also you get put on details (i.e. painting, mow lawns, cooking or have to run errands), but it's the waiting that is the hardest. So yes, send all the encouragement you can if that should happen. And Kim is correct...our soldiers hear all kinds of rumors that half the time turn out NOT to be true, it's always best to just wait and see what happens. Best of luck! (8 hour pass)on Sat.Feb 3rd. He sounded upbeat, but still homesick. He then goes into AIT & then 3 weeks of Airborne. But then he told me guys were on hold for Airborne. So who knows! He said he didn't want to be on hold, but I encouraged him to wait for Airborne, if that is really what he wants. Hello to Pvt.Tim Eaton's Mom....sorry I took so long to respond. Hi PaulsMum, So nice to meet you. I'm from F Co. Here's some info my son explained to me (if I have the details correct) Chaplain 258 is chaplain over the 2nd Brigade 58th Infantry. That's the reason for the numbers 258. On the graduation dates listed on the ITB website you'll notice it listed as F 2-58 and E 2-58. The graduation date for E 2-58 is listed as Mar 9. That means you'll be there the weekend after us. I believe your sons Co is E 2-58 because there would be no pictures posted of your sons company on this web site if he did not belong to the 2nd Brigade 58th Infantry. So according to E 2-58's grad date, we'll miss you by one week. but feel free to be a part of F Co families site for lots and lots of good info and support. Wow,thanks for all the info. A friend of Paul's (Cristin) is staying with us temporarily & she is Army National Guard. She assured me it was website problems and sure enough it was back up today. Thanks to all of you for all the info. And we never received an info letter from anyone. All my info has come from Paul. His letters are entertaining to say the least. And I have been writing several of his platoon mates. One injured his ankle so I've tried to write him often, also. I can't say thank you enough to the chaplain's and the encouraging parents on this site. Someone asked about Paul in the supermarket last week and I told her the letters kept me going. She assumed he was still in engineering school and had no idea where he was. When I told her she couldn't believe it. Her nephew Brandon had just left for Benning the day before. So I hooked her up with this site and now I will be following Brandon. (he is still at 30th) So I will be checking for more pics....thank you, thank you, thank you....Proud Mom of Pvt. Paul Simons

Thank you Lisa for responding. Not seeing activity from other parents & wondering who knows about the site. I wrote Paul & asked him to share the website w/everyone again. A friend of his just dropped by that will ship to Iraq in 2 weeks. He was positive, proud, & brave. (unlike me:( Reading previous comments is really helping & I secured a cabin at Uchee for family day & graduation. I know some of Paul's platoon mates will not have family there, so we are supplying our enormous family out of Atlanta,Ga. Being close to Ft.Benning has helped, the problem is I downsized to a mini cooper. My parents & inlaws will help with transport though if we can get the guys off base and to the nearest Longhorn's! We have rec'd letters & phone calls from Paul and I write him daily. Going back after Exodus was difficult. They had a few AWOL's but I believe everyone is back now? Paul wants news from home and his letters have been informative & "entertaining" as he shares EVERYTHING! Meeting some of his platoon buddies over Exodus was awesome. It helps to share and know you are not alone. Thanks so much for this site. It really helps in so many ways....Wanda, mom of Pvt.Paul Simons #411

Hello families of Echo Co! Good to see your comments...this is a great source of information and will unite all the families for years to come! Have your soldiers pass the word about this site...believe it or not many families don't even know about it. I felt bad when I went to my son's boot camp grad in November and so many people asked me about the scarf I was wearing and I told them it was a tribute to our soldiers and to the family from Charlie Co (webshots)...and so many of these family members said "I sure wish I would have known". I wish they would have too. I have found such wonderful friendships and support...I really don't know what I would have done without them!!! KEEP THE BALL ROLLING! And I'll also try to answer any questions you may have. Hooah! Lisa, Proud ARMY STRONG/FAMILY STRONG mom of Pvt. Brandon Jones (formerly of C Co. 2/58 NOV06 grad, #324)

Lots of information in F-Co comment section... info on graduation & 72 hour leave, the turning blue cermony and their 8 hour pass and ideas for Graduation (things our soldiers will need) and info on seeing off our soldiers at the airport: military id gets family members a pass to the gates to say goodbye instead of at the security line... check out F Co comments for details... God Bless... Judy

Hello Alice Ann...I'm sorry I can't help you much (my son PVT. Jones graduated with Charlie Co. 2/58 in Nov). But here is some information I posted on our C Co. site at the time of our soldier's graduation and it may also help you... ******One other important note: In order to enter Fort Benning the Installation requires a picture ID for each person accompanying you age 16 or over. Additionally you must have proof of insurance and a copy of your vehicle registration to enter the post. You, your passengers, and your vehicle are subject to random searches upon entry. Traffic flow is restricted at these checkpoints, so please allow about 1 hour before each days' events to get onto Sand Hill. Once you enter Sand Hill and pass through the Post Security Checkpoint, follow the signs that indicate 2-58 Infantry Turning Blue or Graduation....for more info go to www.infantry.army.mil or http://www.infantry.army.mil/itb/. I hope this helps anyone who hasn't received the info yet. ***** Alice Ann, you might want to click on our site of C Company Nov06 grad, it has some wonderful graduation information and postings that will also be beneficial..or go to F Co who's also graduating the same time as your boys (alot of info has been placed on this site as well). I'll check back and assist you in any way I can...hopefully other E Co. family members will post as well. Best wishes!!! Lisa, proud ARMY STRONG/FAMILY STRONG mom of Pvt. Brandon Jones

Hello I have a question regarding the March 2007 graduation. The letter I received said graduation activities are scheduled for March 1st and 2nd with the graduation ceremony at 10 am on March 3rd. What time do we need to arrive on March 1st? It was a huge Christmas blessing to have our son home for the holdiays. Our prayers are with all of you as you press forward to March. Godspeed Alice Ann

Keep the comments going... It's a great way to gather information about graduation, lodging, etc. and to know what your soldier is doing. You'll come to find this site a lifeline if you can get the word out and continue to leave comments... I don't know what I would have done without it when my son went to boot camp. *****CHAPLAIN RUSACK, YOU'RE AWESOME!! You have posted some really great pictures here. I'm sure the families of Company E are grateful. Keep up the great work! :) ....GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE GUYS IN ECHO COMPANY. Lisa, Proud ARMY STRONG/FAMILY STRONG mom of PVT. Brandon Jones

Dear Family and Friends of E CO., My name is Kim, My son PVT Rory Payne graduated in Nov. 06. This webpage became a lifeline for me. If you go to the C Co site, Grad Date Nov. 06 and read some of the comments there you will find that this can be a great way to get info. from other family members of your wonderful soldiers. Don't just view the pics, leave emails for other family members of E Co to contact you. You will make some great new life long friends, and get all the info. you need to help you through this very emotional time. Also, don't wait to make your reservations if you are planning on attending your soldiers graduation, the lodging fills up quickly, and the airfair gets expensive. You can find your grad dates on the army website at www.infantry.army.mil/itb /, when you go there, click on ITB on the left, then at the top of the next page click on graduation dates. Remember there can be unforseen reasons you soldier may not graduate on that date, that is why they tell you to wait. But if you make your reservations refundable, then it won't matter. Good Luck to all your Sodiers and God Bless!! A Very Proud "Army Strong" Mom of PVT Rory Payne, Kim
