Dear Family and Friends of E CO., My name is Kim, My son PVT Rory Payne graduated in Nov. 06. This webpage became a lifeline for me. If you go to the C Co site, Grad Date Nov. 06 and read some of the comments there you will find that this can be a great way to get info. from other family members of your wonderful soldiers. Don't just view the pics, leave emails for other family members of E Co to contact you. You will make some great new life long friends, and get all the info. you need to help you through this very emotional time. Also, don't wait to make your reservations if you are planning on attending your soldiers graduation, the lodging fills up quickly, and the airfair gets expensive. You can find your grad dates on the army website at www.infantry.army.mil/itb /, when you go there, click on ITB on the left, then at the top of the next page click on graduation dates. Remember there can be unforseen reasons you soldier may not graduate on that date, that is why they tell you to wait. But if you make your reservations refundable, then it won't matter. Good Luck to all your Sodiers and God Bless!! A Very Proud "Army Strong" Mom of PVT Rory Payne, Kim

Keep the comments going... It's a great way to gather information about graduation, lodging, etc. and to know what your soldier is doing. You'll come to find this site a lifeline if you can get the word out and continue to leave comments... I don't know what I would have done without it when my son went to boot camp. *****CHAPLAIN RUSACK, YOU'RE AWESOME!! You have posted some really great pictures here. I'm sure the families of Company E are grateful. Keep up the great work! :) ....GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE GUYS IN ECHO COMPANY. Lisa, Proud ARMY STRONG/FAMILY STRONG mom of PVT. Brandon Jones

Hello I have a question regarding the March 2007 graduation. The letter I received said graduation activities are scheduled for March 1st and 2nd with the graduation ceremony at 10 am on March 3rd. What time do we need to arrive on March 1st? It was a huge Christmas blessing to have our son home for the holdiays. Our prayers are with all of you as you press forward to March. Godspeed Alice Ann

Hello Alice Ann...I'm sorry I can't help you much (my son PVT. Jones graduated with Charlie Co. 2/58 in Nov). But here is some information I posted on our C Co. site at the time of our soldier's graduation and it may also help you... ******One other important note: In order to enter Fort Benning the Installation requires a picture ID for each person accompanying you age 16 or over. Additionally you must have proof of insurance and a copy of your vehicle registration to enter the post. You, your passengers, and your vehicle are subject to random searches upon entry. Traffic flow is restricted at these checkpoints, so please allow about 1 hour before each days' events to get onto Sand Hill. Once you enter Sand Hill and pass through the Post Security Checkpoint, follow the signs that indicate 2-58 Infantry Turning Blue or Graduation....for more info go to www.infantry.army.mil or http://www.infantry.army.mil/itb/. I hope this helps anyone who hasn't received the info yet. ***** Alice Ann, you might want to click on our site of C Company Nov06 grad, it has some wonderful graduation information and postings that will also be beneficial..or go to F Co who's also graduating the same time as your boys (alot of info has been placed on this site as well). I'll check back and assist you in any way I can...hopefully other E Co. family members will post as well. Best wishes!!! Lisa, proud ARMY STRONG/FAMILY STRONG mom of Pvt. Brandon Jones

Lots of information in F-Co comment section... info on graduation & 72 hour leave, the turning blue cermony and their 8 hour pass and ideas for Graduation (things our soldiers will need) and info on seeing off our soldiers at the airport: military id gets family members a pass to the gates to say goodbye instead of at the security line... check out F Co comments for details... Hello families of Echo Co! Good to see your comments...this is a great source of information and will unite all the families for years to come! Have your soldiers pass the word about this site...believe it or not many families don't even know about it. I felt bad when I went to my son's boot camp grad in November and so many people asked me about the scarf I was wearing and I told them it was a tribute to our soldiers and to the family from Charlie Co (webshots)...and so many of these family members said "I sure wish I would have known". I wish they would have too. I have found such wonderful friendships and support...I really don't know what I would have done without them!!! KEEP THE BALL ROLLING! And I'll also try to answer any questions you may have. Hooah! Lisa, Proud ARMY STRONG/FAMILY STRONG mom of Pvt. Brandon Jones (formerly of C Co. 2/58 NOV06 grad, #324)

Hello from the parents of PVT Paul Simons of E.Co. haven't heard much from our platoon. Wondering if the word is out about this site? We have rec'd letters & phone calls from Paul and I write him daily. Going back after Exodus was difficult. They had a few AWOL's but I believe everyone is back now? Paul wants news from home and his letters have been informative & "entertaining" as he shares EVERYTHING! Meeting some of his platoon buddies over Exodus was awesome. It helps to share and know you are not alone. Thanks so much for this site. It really helps in so many ways....Wanda, mom of Pvt.Paul Simons #411

Wanda, it sounds like Pvt. Simons is doing a great job. From now till graduation he'll probably be very busy... You may see a decline in phone calls and/or letters, but don't be discouraged continue to write him (he'll appreciate hearing from home). It won't be long now...graduation is on the horizon. I hope more E Co. family members join in. It really does make a world of difference when you can exchange information about your company and/or platoon with one another. If I can ever be of assistance, let me know. Hooah! Lisa, Proud ARMY STRONG/FAMILY STRONG mom of Pvt. Brandon Jones

Thank you Lisa for responding. Not seeing activity from other parents & wondering who knows about the site. I wrote Paul & asked him to share the website w/everyone again. A friend of his just dropped by that will ship to Iraq in 2 weeks. He was positive, proud, & brave. (unlike me:( Reading previous comments is really helping & I secured a cabin at Uchee for family day & graduation. I know some of Paul's platoon mates will not have family there, so we are supplying our enormous family out of Atlanta,Ga. Being close to Ft.Benning has helped, the problem is I downsized to a mini cooper. My parents & inlaws will help with transport though if we can get the guys off base and to the nearest Longhorn's! Looking forward to graduation and seeing E Co. graduate. We are so proud of ALL our soldiers. Hooah! Wanda proud Mom of Pvt.Paul Simons,Jr.

o.k. now I'm worried. I can no longer find the graduation date for E.company and can no longer log on to the infantry training bridgade site (that gives you an idea of what your soldier is doing) And I haven't received ANY information from commanders. Guess I am in panic/anxiety mode. And the chaplain has not added photos to E.company. Any ideas out there. thanks,Pauls Mom

Wanda, I wish I could help, but have no idea why you can't find info. Have yout tried emailing your son's Captain? When we got the info page right after my son started basic the Captains email was on it for us if we needed to contact him with any questions we might have. He was very good at emailing me right back, I hope this helps. God Bless, A Very Proud "Army Strong" Mom of PVT Rory Payne, Kim

Hello to Pauls Mom.... there appears to be something wrong with ITB web site as several of us F Co Families have not been able to log on this weekend... I'm hoping the web site will be up tomorrow, as I understand there are new pictures of the Sunday Church Service I'm hoping to see... Out of 6 letters I've written my Son since Christmas... he has only received 2... sometimes they hold their mail... for a various reasons... they are also getting really busy right now...in week 9... our adopted C Co Moms said there will be lots of field training and not much free time... hope that helps some... My son is in E Co and I am keeping my eyes on this website. I too have noticed that there has been no new photos added in a while. I do look forward to seeing the new pictures. I have not seen any new photos from chapel. I check this site often and appreciate Chaplain for posting the pics to it. It does my heart good to see the guys and lets me know they are fine. I know my son in every letter encourages letters from home. He says it often keeps him going. I will keep checking for new pics on this site. Proud mom of PVT. Tim Eaton

Wow,thanks for all the info. A friend of Paul's (Cristin) is staying with us temporarily & she is Army National Guard. She assured me it was website problems and sure enough it was back up today. Thanks to all of you for all the info. And we never received an info letter from anyone. All my info has come from Paul. His letters are entertaining to say the least. And I have been writing several of his platoon mates. One injured his ankle so I've tried to write him often, also. I can't say thank you enough to the chaplain's and the encouraging parents on this site. Someone asked about Paul in the supermarket last week and I told her the letters kept me going. She assumed he was still in engineering school and had no idea where he was. When I told her she couldn't believe it. Her nephew Brandon had just left for Benning the day before. So I hooked her up with this site and now I will be following Brandon. (he is still at 30th) So I will be checking for more pics....thank you, thank you, thank you....Proud Mom of Pvt. Paul Simons

Hi PaulsMum, So nice to meet you. I'm from F Co. Here's some info my son explained to me (if I have the details correct) Chaplain 258 is chaplain over the 2nd Brigade 58th Infantry. That's the reason for the numbers 258. On the graduation dates listed on the ITB website you'll notice it listed as F 2-58 and E 2-58. The graduation date for E 2-58 is listed as Mar 9. That means you'll be there the weekend after us. I believe your sons Co is E 2-58 because there would be no pictures posted of your sons company on this web site if he did not belong to the 2nd Brigade 58th Infantry. So according to E 2-58's grad date, we'll miss you by one week. but feel free to be a part of F Co families site for lots and lots of good info and support. I'm so glad you'll be there to experience it, because believe me IT'S WORTH IT!!!! I'm glad to see everyone embrasing one another. I can't thank you enough for all the info. Paul was able to call Thurs.nite briefly. He said they will get a pass after basic, but didn't think he could go off base or that we could get on base. (8 hour pass)on Sat.Feb 3rd. He sounded upbeat, but still homesick. He then goes into AIT & then 3 weeks of Airborne. But then he told me guys were on hold for Airborne. So who knows! He said he didn't want to be on hold, but I encouraged him to wait for Airborne, if that is really what he wants. Hello to Pvt.Tim Eaton's Mom....sorry I took so long to respond. And thank you to F Co. folks, & Lisa & Kim for taking me in! The guidance is amazing....can't thank you enough....And yes we graduate the week after Co.F so I will miss meeting all of you. Wanda, let Paul know that is what they told our boys too. But, they went right to airborne. I think they do it to weed through the ones who really are dedicated and the ones who are not. But, remember it may be different this time, but according to Rory they tell all the Co's that. God Bless, A Very Proud "Army Strong" Mom of PVT Rory Payne, Kim

Just a note about Airborne hold...it may happen. My son Brandon had his paperwork screwed up and ended up being placed on hold for almost 2.5 weeks...and he wasn't alone, there were at least 50 or so others who were on hold as well. So nothing is a certainty as we are quickly finding out. Being on hold is hard according to Brandon because you don't get your regular pay and also you get put on details (i.e. painting, mow lawns, cooking or have to run errands), but it's the waiting that is the hardest. So yes, send all the encouragement you can if that should happen. And Kim is correct...our soldiers hear all kinds of rumors that half the time turn out NOT to be true, it's always best to just wait and see what happens. Best of luck! Thanks Pam. Maybe after graduation you guys could give us helpful hints (like Kim & Lisa) We are staying at Uchee Creek Wed.March 7th up to Friday March 9th. Our daughter is due in April with our first grandchild so we are heading down so she can "rest up' before family day. Hi E Company! I just wanted to let everyone know about staying at Olsen Hall on base. If you aren't staying at Uchee you should definitely make your reservations there. I am currently in my room at Olsen after visiting my boyfriend (PFC in E Co) who had a pass. The rooms are only $32 and are safe, clean and right on base as opposed to the ones out in Columbus (and trust me it is pretty "ghetto" just outside the base). My room has a double bed, TV, internet, fridge, microwave, blow dryer, iron, in other words everything you want or need in a hotel. Lauren, you should definitely call Olsen and get a room here instead. The number is on the MWR site (benningmwr.com i think). Check it out!

Thanks for the insight for Olsen Hall. Maybe my parents can stay there instead of Uchee Creek. We were able to go down today and visit with Paul. We had an awesome visit and met so many soldiers. It was great to match some names & faces....all the guys were so excited to get a pass. Countdown to graduation March 8th & 9th! Hooah, We love you guys of E.Company Proud parents of Pvt.Paul K.Simons,Jr. (BTW Paul still hasn't told his DI'S they pronounce his name incorrectly...he hopes they get it right for graduation)

mythonian::::this is the mom of Ed Bolen#301 and I am also staying at Olson Hall. I called and have confirmed a room. Also, was told what you said. It's like a motel room and there is a Burger King across the street, Taco Bell and store and a PUB!!!. all on base we don't have to travel anywhere. Taxi cabs are about 2bucks if you don't feel like walking and we are close by the boys. I like that feeling. I will be traveling alone because my husband has to work, other son in college in NY/ So....Here I go...on my own!!LOl Jeanine (neener.1955@yahoo.com) Home phone # (949)916-4722) Call me and I will give you my cell . We can go somewhere on base and let me know what room you are in. This is getting exciting.. I'm glad I chose Olson Hall . Later..Jeanine

O.K. Echo company let's hear from you guys! Its Simons #411 Mom, Wanda here. Got a letter from Paul with a very detailed schedule for the week. They should have had a 5 mile RUN today in "lovely" weather. It is very cold here in the suburbs of Atlanta and Ft.Bennings temps are similar. We had icy precipitation today, but the temps at Benning are suppose to be warmer during the day, then cold at night. Hope somebody from Echo Company will give a shout-out. Countdown is now less than 4 weeks! Hooah....proud mom of Pvt. Paul Simons #411..... still hoping for more pics of our soldiers in Echo Company.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE!!!!! ******My very own Battle Buddy, Kim Payne sent out an email of a Soldier Mom's Prayer that I wanted to make sure everyone got to read: God Bless my son as he falls to sleep, I pray this night the peace to keep. When he wakes to start the day, I pray that love will lead the way. If there's danger and if there's strife, Please send Angels to guard his life. Keep him safe and free from fear, Bless my soldier and keep him near. Until he's home, until he's safe, Bring peace to our hearts and strength to our faith.

HI all! This is David's mom, #419. I hope everyone is having a good Valentine's Day and has been able to send some letters/cards to our PVT's. Thank you Chaplain for posting the pictures. It helps us adjust to the new life our sons are leading. Does anyone have any advice on how to schedule plans? I know there is Air Bourne training after graduation but is there anyway to know what to schedule around for April? Particularly around Easter? Thanks, Chaplain, for being there as an encouragement for our young men. Keep praying for them all! Gloria

Gloria, No, there is no way to know if there will be anytime off for your soldier. Until he graduates and gets assigned to a unit. If he is going on to Airborne and possibly RIP then chances are he wont get time off again after graduation until he has finished all his training. I hope this helps. The guys of Echo company did get a pass today....from 4th platoon there were 3 that did not get a pass. I headed to Sand Hill hoping to hear from Paul and I did. I met him at the Afterhours club across from Airborne barracks & towers. Took loads of sweets & water in the back of the mini. We ate at Subway & the guys got some internet time. The guys I met/saw today were Sockwell,Soderman, Street,Taylor,Titus,Weede n,Workman. Everyone was positive and amazing how they have pulled together. I am so proud of them and counting down to March 8th&9th. I am fortunate to live so close, but more fortunate to enjoy such wonderful brave men. Hooah, proud Mom of Pvt. Paul Simons #411. (BTW the weather was cool & clear) Hope everyone heard from their soldier, I passed my cell phone around when I could, it had no bars by the time I left for Atlanta) Romans 8:28

The USPS has a program for military family members and friends to supply them with packaging materials to send packages to troops overseas. If you call 1-800-610-8734 and select option # 1, Ask them for the "Military pack" they will send you boxes, tape, packaging materials and labels. They will also give you an I.D. number so if your supply runs low, you just call them up and they'll send you more supplies. The materials take about four to ten days to receive. I Don't know if any of you have mailed any packages lately, but if you go to mail box etc., they will charge you for the box, tape, peanuts, labels and everything else the can think of! After a while, those charges start to add up! This is just FYI. I thought it was a pretty good deal and wanted to try and get the word out to anyone that didn't know about this program. The USPS also offers a http://www.usps.com/supportingourtroops/ page on their web site with links to guidelines for packing, addressing, and shipping items to U.S. troops. Rhonda

Thanks guys! I don't think the word got out about this site. Paul said 4th platoon does get more mail than anybody (or maybe they have DI's that deliver!) but when I have met guys from his platoon they don't seem to know about the site. I have tried to spread the word. I'm trying not to stress. Have turned all my anxiety over....my Dad had not one, but 3 stents yesterday and also had a heart attack during the procedure. He is in ICU at St.Joes in Atlanta. Now his carotid surgery will be delayed. And of course my son isin FTX, but the weather is mild at Benning and will remain that way for the week (Hooah!) Hello Echo company! Our guys are now in FTX, but the weather is great. Temps are higher and milder at night. Let's keep our thoughts and prayers with them and hopefully we can join together on this site Wed/Thurs. of this week. And of course I am hoping to hear from the Chaplain Rusack and our commander. BTW has anyone tried to call Ft.Benning? I need to get the correct spelling of a PVT. Stockwell (I had been sending his mail Sockwell!) but his first name is either Sean or Shawn? maybe someone can help me. Pvt.Stockwell and Pvt. Derek Weeden both have birthdays March 1st, so I am sending musical cards. And I will be sending many muscial cards to Paul this week and hopefully Echo company will "hear" how proud we are of them!! Hey Wanda! Im sorry to hear about your dad! I know how hard that is, my mom is only 45 and had the same thing happen to her. I heard from James. His letter took about 4 days to get to me. He wrote monday and I received it on friday! He said they were excited! He passed his last PT test with flying colors, and all that praying paid off! Im glad to hear the weather is mild. I will be so happy to see some warm weather. It has been frigid here in NY. James was the one who directed me to this site. So i find it wierd that most of the guys dont know about it. Keep in touch! Let me know if you hear anything! Good luck with your Dad!

Thanks Chelsey, so glad you heard from James. I've decided maybe the guys do know...maybe they shared the site, but not everyone wants to"join in" :( But as we get closer to graduation maybe more will communicate here with us. I know when I first found the photos I didn't scroll down to the comments. This site has been my lifeline. Sorry your Mom had to go thru that. My dad has a heart history and he is 72. He plans on being at graduation. BTW I had heart failure almost 20 years ago after delivering Paul. Most women don't survive postpartum cardiomyopathy, but I did.
