A great tribute to those who serve on ships. I served in Viet Nam in the Navy and am proud of our men and women of the armed forces for their devotion to duty and honorable service. Thanks for sharing.

What a great album for military buffs! Having served on a baby flat top in WW II this flight deck is huge. Pilots for one reason or another had to land on a carrier not their own. one of our pilots having been given permission to land on one of the big carriers asked "which runway".

One great albuum, I am awed at the size of this ship, If we had this in WWII we would have whipped Japan in six weeks. as a jeep carrier sailor it's huge. Thanks for sharing. Bering featured was a nobrainer, one sure thing. Art sends from Texas.

DeeAnne, Had to take another look at the 'old' Navy, one can never get it out of their veins if you've served already. That question I left you on the Change of Command Ceremonies you might have to ask your Navy friends, if you don't mind, I'd like to know somehow, if you can find out. An excellent album as a Feature and an excellent album ANYTIME. Thanks for the second look.

Hi DeeAnne and I cannot imagine how I missed this album when it was featured. Sorry about that but please accept my belated congratulations - it's just the sort of album that appeals to me and i have greatly enjoyed browsing through it. I also want to thank you very much for your kind words in my Moore River album - much appreciated. Now what is the three photos a week contest all about and how do I go about joining in? Looking at your entries and reading all the comments it sounds like it is a lot of fun. Best wishes from the land down under, Peter

Congratulations! Today's featured album: "Special Thanks to the Military" is a well deserved honor. The quality photos of the men and women of The Fleet serving onboard USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69) remind us of the great sacrifices and courageous service of those who daily protect America's freedoms. They personify the U. S. Navy's tradition of "Honor, Courage, and Commitment." See my tribute to my father, America's oldest Naval Aviation officer, 'Navy Centenarian Sailor', 103 year old, Chief Warrant Officer Julio 'Jay' Ereneta, USN (Ret.) who flew in the U. S. Navy's first aircraft carriers, USS LANGLEY (CV-1) and USS LEXINGTON (CV-2). http://news.webshots.com/album/123286873BFAAiq http://news.webshots.com/album/180335427BzrrEt

I had the privilege of attending my nephews retirement ceremony on board the "IKE". He went from Dental tech to Lt. Commander to a six figure position as a civilian. The "KIDS" on the "IKE" and in the military do one hell of job. Take advantage of the opportunities that the military offers and take pride in what you all do! Thank you for this great album....John

How wonderful of you to put together this great collection of Photos taken by our Servicemen & Women, of their comrades, doing what only they can do best. I live in the area of Va Beach-Norfolk-Portsmouth and witness, firsthand, the comings and goings of these great ships and the personnel they carry. Deployment is 6 months long and so much happens in their lives, both at home (that they miss)& aboard ship (that they can't always share. It does my heart good to see that people from other parts of the country appreciate what they selflessly sacrifice in order to help maintain "our" way of life. Thank you so much, Bonnie in Virginia
