Album Description:
A Sunday's drive took us back in time - several years past, I worked on the Shipyard. There were thousands of people working here - it is closed and deserted now. Alot of history is here dating back to the American Civil War.

Hi Stan, what mixed feelings you must have had going back - in time. It is always sad to see the desertion, but in a yet-to-come era, someone will probably do something fantastic with the area and hopefully the buildings. ... Take care, Judy

Wonderful album Stan. When we lived in California my husband worked at the Naval Air Station in Alameda. He was a jet engine inspector and had been there for 34 years. It was sad to see all the bases close. Hugs, Lynn

You know I was stationed there for 3 years 1988-1991. Looking at this album just brought me back 20 years... WOW Thank you.

Check out this picture, one of the few pictures I took while there (gosh I wish I was into photography back then) This shot always facinated me, I guess that's why I still have it. check out the number of starts on the flags the eagle is standing on. http://public.fotki.com/catsrule1969/my-memories-from-th/mare-island-califon/mareisland01.html
