This site is great! I found it when looking at the Magoffin website. From Sept 64 to Feb 66 I was disbursing and commissary officer. These pics bring back good memories of a great ship and the super men who manned her. Thanks

I sure have enjoyed looking over all the pictures in your albums. When Wendell Lackner and his wife came down from Idaho to visit us in Houston we visited your photo album. We had a lot of good stories to tell and good laughs. It had been 37years since we had seen each other, but it was like yesterday, older and gray hair. Now I can imagine the good times we all can have getting together at the next reunion in Lexington. Thanks Jim! Looking forward to the reunion! Clyde Alexander

I sure enjoyed the pictures of the Magoffin. I was in first division during that cruise. Are you still in contact with any of the people in the pictures? I remember a lot of the names. I can remember the trip into Naha harbor, I was the sea and anchor detail helmsman and was on the helm going into that harbor. I live in Apple Valley, California. I was on the Magoffin from 1962 and left her from Korea I think in 1965, she was loading Korean troops and heading for Da Nang, Vietnam when I left, I not sure of the dates. Great memories, thank you.

J.L. Thanks for the memories! I sereved on the old Magoo from 1958 to 1960, going to the Monticello as an ET 2. Thatr was a double whammy seeing the Monticello also. Those typhoon pictures especiaslli touched me. I think we hit two typhoons per season around Okinawa. Thanks again. Jackson Brryant jack@compcost.net
