Regarding the pic of Battery A 4th US at Culpeper, Va (1863): This is a great photo and is availble from the National Archives on line as a 20mb download so you can see a lot of detail. My great great grandfather is in this pic. He was a Lt in the 4th US Battery A and I have his dairy which describes the photo being taken (September 23, 1863). The battery commander was Lt. King and he is on the white horse out front towards the left side of the pic. My great great grandfather (Lt. Charles N. Warner, USMA 1862) is on a black horse a bit further left (to King's right). Most of the officers are new to the battery at this time as Cushing and others were killed at Gettysburg a few months earlier.

Thanks for the great photo's, my great great grandfather served for 4 years during the Civil War and some of your photographs were taken at the places that he was at. If your are interested in a Medal of Honor soldier, take a look at the following link, http://www.civilwaralbum.com/misc5/fout1.htm#Honor, Which is all about Frederick W. Fout or check out our albums. Thanks for sharing

They say at an old house beside the bridge and Shenandoah River..just down the road.....you can hear screams on a summer night.....from prisoners kept in the house there. The locals tell me this..they don't go near the place except to hunt on the property.
