It is good to see that you made it through the storm all right. I am in Nebraska so I really do not have any idea what that was like, just wondered to your album looking at various pics. Thanks for uploading them to be shared! Heres to hoping that your next vacation won't have this much excitement. Sandra

Just wanted to let you know you are in the hearts and 'prayers' of so many during this hard time of recunstruction. Please if you need to talk, just email me, I am a Frances and Jeanne 'survivor'in Florida, so I can relate to the heart ache and desperation. Keep hanging on.

To My Houston Angels, You two may not remember me, I met you both while waiting at the Houston airport trying to get home or in touch with my family. Both of you showed me much compassion and generosity. My family is fine and my husband showed up at the airport shortly after the two ofyou left. The only injury was to my 5-year-old. She recieved a third degree burn on the back of her leg from a hot exhaust pipe during evacuation. My family evacuated to Natchez, Mississippi and found a campground. Monday morning they were asked to leaved because of the storm track. They wound up driving home through the storm. The only damage was to one vehicle when a tree fell on top of it. Our home survived but barns sustained some small damage. Pacman toronados (neighbor counted up to 80 and then quit counting) ripped our property to shreds. We have 30+ trees down and all pampas grass hedge is demolished. Power lines still down and electric company said to be prepared for 6-8 more weeks of no power. We are tired, hot and working hard at getting things back to normal. When we get our power up and running I will be sure to send you pictures of Folsom, Covington, and Slidell! What an experience we have to share with our grandchildren! Love you both! Kris Sylvest

First of all, I'm so glad you made it out safely! Thank you for sharing your album, what a piece of history it will be! I can only imagine how you must have felt wishing you were somewhere else while Katrina was raging outside. Take care, stay safe and hopefully your next vacation will be a little quieter! How did you ever get out? We were there and thought we were going to have to stay also.We were staying at the Wyndham-Whitney on Poydras street, halfway between the Dome and Harrahs. We got a rental car at the airport on Sunday afternoon. Thanks for the great photos. I stood and looked at that flood gate in the french market on Friday afternoon. We have some photos of some places all boarded up on Saturday afternoon. We took a carrage ride around town on Saturday night, our guide was not at all worried about the storm. He was going to stay and so were a lot of other people we talked to. No one expected it to be that bad. Malissa~Tennessee

I am so glad to see your collection. I watched the broadcasting diligently and with an everincreasing broken heart. They said that the French Quarter was relatively untouched but showed no proof. Yours is like a news report. The before pictures are great just as pics of New Orleans itself (regardless of storm). People in pictures often mask architecture and other visuals. Bare streets exposed so much more than I've seen before. I have spent delightful weeks in New Orleans and area on a couple of occasions. Thanks for sharing your experience. I am glad you are safe. Praying for the rest, Kaki
