  • I hate to sound like a broken record, but thanks for all the pictures. I worked at KD the first two full years of the park's operation as a seasonal employee, and the next two years as a full time employee. I met my wife there as well. She started off the first year, 1975, when only Lion Country Safari was open and continued for the next several summers. Oh, the memories these pics bring back. I know I have a lot of old shots at home somewhere which I will try to get scanned in. My wife and I also have the first 4 or 5 years of the Kings Dominion employee yearbook, The Hot Dog.

  • These photos are great! Thank you so much for posting. I'm working on a memory book for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, and boy did these bring back memories! My family went evyear in the late '70s - early '80s, until the kids all grew up and moved away. Since we've had kids of our own, the entire family, now living all over the country, gets together every year at Kings Dominion

  • I absolutly love Kings Dominion I was born in 1993 so I probably don't know the "Glory Days" are but I still like it for what I can remember and what I see today.

  • Just wanted to say I love this album. I went to KD for the first time in the mid-1980's, sometime during the Hanna Barbera period. I went back again yesterday and it wasn't nearly as magical as it used to be...stand in line, go on ride, stand in another line, go on another ride. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

  • I love the photos of old KD. Any pictures of Smurf Mountain? That was my favorite :( I've searched the internet and can't even come up with one. I found one somewhere of Yogi's Cave, but it was hard to see. If anyone has any pictures of either, KateCurls6218@aol.com I'd love to see them!

  • Wow, thank you so much for all of those wonderful pictures of the old Kings Dominion. I had season passes for years as a child and visited the park at least thirty times a season. :) I did get to visit the park last year, and though the Volcano is cool, I sure miss Smurf Mountain, Time Shaft, Mt. Kilamonjero and the Haunted River. I have lived in NYC for the past eight years and every now and then I'll Google up KD to see what's doing, today I found your site and I am elated. You have inspired me to scan my old photos and submit them. Thanks again.

  • Thanks so much for posting the pictures. I worked in the parking lot at KD from 1977 - 80 (my first job!) and later in the Security department in 84. I probably parked some of the cars seen in your earliest pics from the Eiffel Tower! Some of my best memories of life are from those carefree years. Thanks for helping me relive them.

  • Thank you for the pictures, so many wonderful memories came fly back to me . I will always remember the haunted river and Yogies cave. I dont think any amusment park can can make me feel the way Hana-Barbaras Kings dominion could.

  • Thank you for the wonderful photos and the trip down memory lane. The annual KD trip was always the highlight of the year for my brothers and I during the early and mid 80's, and it is a real treat to see pictures from that magical time and place.

  • Thanks for the great shots of KD in its Glory Day. They brought back memories of some of my favorite rides: Jamestown Landing, Land of the Dos, and the slides. I have not been to Kings Dominion for the last few seasons. I am very disappointed how the park has changed. Remember when International Street had actual International shops?

  • Wow. Awesome pics. I sure miss the old KD. I used to live at that park during the summer, I live in Dallas now left Va in 1990 and haven't been able to make it back to visit. These pics bring back so many memories of how it used to be- I know how it's changed and wouldn't even recognize the place if I ever get to go back. Thanks for the pics.
