  • Do you have a Julie Ducharme who married a Francois Flibotte on your tree by chance? They were married January 16, 1827 probably in St. Hyacinthe Quebec

  • What a wonderful site. My mother was born in Nicolet to Pierre Metivier and Cornelie Bourgeois 1895). Cornelie was the daughter of Jean Bpt. Bourgeois and Athalie/Nathalie Laplante. I have church books from St. Monique which indicate that Philippe Bourgeois was a first cousin to my grandmother. These are the first photos I have seen of the Bourgeois family. My mother being very old never went back to Nicolet. Leona rlb2@mediaone.net

  • Found some more info on the Bourgeois family: Alcide Bourgeois born March 12, 1857 at St. Jacques D'embyrn, Ontario, son of Joseph Bourgeois and Adeline Dupuis. He married Adelaide Carriere on Feb. 5, 1883 at St. Pierre, manitoba. He died June 12, 1940. Adelaide Carriere daughter of Augustin Carriere and Sarah Dening (Denning) was born March 19, 1867 at St. Boniface, Manitoba. They had 11 children: Alfred born Oct 23, 1884, Charles born December 30, 1886, Adelina born Sept. 1, 1888, Philibert born July 13, 1890, Alice born Dec. 25, 1892, Gaston born Oct. 19, 1894, Octave born April 23, 1897, Gabriel born May 27, 1898, Solange born April 13, 1900 - (Solange is my great grandmother), Raoul born July 18, 1903, Marianne born Nov. 14, 1904. Not sure where about this info would fit in with the Bourgeois search as I have not come across such more names as Hogue, Roy, so if anyone out there has more info, pls feel free to email me at : neon@telusplanet.net

  • Shelley, do you think that ALCIDE BOURGEOIS could have been born in St-Jacques d'Embrum instead of the Embyrn that you indicated. The handwriting may have been difficult to decipher. There's a city called EMBRUM just east of the Québec border when you head toward Ottawa, Ontario. This clarification may help in your research.

  • Hi Muriel, yes it is d'Embrun, just a mis-spelling on my part

  • Regarding the Bourgeois family: My father was Philip Bourgeois born 1919, brother to Alcide Bourgeois who lived in Brandon (with his wife Alice). They have all passed on. There were other siblings as well. My paternal grandfather was Gabriel Bourgeois who lived with his wife Mary (McLeod) in Pine River Manitoba. I think I'm related here but not sure. Can anyone help me out? On my father's Certificate of Baptism the sponsors by proxy were Alcide Bourgeois (whom I'm assuming is my great-grandfather) and Mrs. J. Lariviere (?). Please contact me, Linda Schulhoff (nee Bourgeois)at: skylin772001@yahoo.com PS...someone in the family is looking for the name of Sarah Denig's mother...I found it. It was Betsy Assibiboine (Deer Little Woman). Contact me for the URL's for this and other info.
