Album Description:

Some 30 acres on a Hill Country ranch will stand in for the rugged speck of Japanese land in the Pacific Ocean where about 28,000 died during a grueling month of fighting in early 1945 -- a battle immortalized in an Associated Press photo of a group.

    • "Nice job" with the pictures and, of course, the "show" battle reenactment. I don't think there were many smiles at the battle 60 years ago, and the average age of the participants then was so much younger than the reenactors, but this effort to understand history by pseudo participation is worthwhile for the actors and audience. For those of us who never experienced combat, myself included, the real horror of war can still only be imagined. ~~~~Bob

    • What a fantastic reenactment. This gives us a color view of what things were like, to a great degree. Of course we all know the carnage and intensity would be more vivid in reality, but this shows us some of the style. Very nice feature for this Memorial Day. Alan
