Wow! Came across your photos while googling my last name and pictures of my dad (Carnesi) are included in your album!!! So cool to see him so young. We've all heard his Korea stories and it was really neat to actually see it. Thanks!

Hi Carl - glad to see you added more photos. Just want to let you know (in case you haven't noticed) I added 3 "R & R" albums, plus a few pictures to the others (grouped all of them under this user name). Hope you find the time to view them. Regards - Jim

Hi Carl - Things did improve by the time I got to Korea. They told us, that only 3 years earlier (1958), guys still lived in tents and washed up from steel pots. I also bought my Petri 7 camera over there. Seemed like everybody had it, at first I thought it was issued... Used it well into the late '70-s, with good result. I probably would not recognize Yokohama, because, I haven't seen much of it in the daytime. Almost every day I went on a tour with the Service Club bus. At night we used to go to a place called Peanuts Club, to listen to some live music and drink a few beers. I don't even remember how we got there. Memories can fade... I added a picture of the U.S.S. Mann - take a look at it, the best, there is. Of course, I feel honored, if you download any or all of my pictures. - Jim

Hi Carl - Thanks, for viewing my "Destination: Korea..." album. I have a postcard of the U.S.S. Mann, that they gave us back then. To keep with the (Webshots) rules, I couldn't include it. If you want it, I could forward it to you. In the meantime, I posted an other album: "Korea - a.k.a. The Land of the Morning Calm", have you noticed? This would give you an idea (thanks to 1LtKen), where our compound was. This past June we visited the D-Day Museum in New Orleans. Have you been there yet? - Jim

Carl, Could I use your Chinese Tunnel photos and the Royal Thai Photo on my site. You will be given credit and a link will direct others to your albums. Didn't know the Thais were near Casey. Only knew they were down the road from Kaiser. 1LtKen

Hi Carl, and thanks for viewing my albums, making me a "favorite&qu ot; and your interest in my Korea pictures. I do have more (regret NOW, that I did not take more)and will put another album together in the near future. I have no idea where our compound was located. It was CC#1 that we used to go to. I did go on R & R to Japan along with one other GI, not even the same time, however. The others had no intererst (maybe now they realize what they missed). Keep an eye on my albums - I change them often. Best wishes - Jim

Hi Carl - as much as I (and everybody else) "hated" it being there, I enjoyed looking at these pictures, they brought back memories (more good than bad). This album has inspired me to post one sometime in the future. Greetings from Jim (1st Cav., 1961-62)
