Images of firefighters are important to remind us of the great work they all do. I'm not a firefighter but they're very real to me right now. Only last week, the funeral took place of one of our own local firefighters who was fatally injured by a car while attending to a car crash. The same firefighter group, Blue Watch, Stevenage, suffered two fatalities in 2005 while attending to a fire in an apartment block.

Hi Fred, you've just brought back oodles of memories for Mike, from the parades, cemeteries and training sessions. Seven years he spent as a volunteer then later, 18 years on the paid department, 13 of those on the Rescue Squad. 'Nuff said? ... We fly home tomorrow after a wonderful surprise visit to NJ! ... Judy

Hi Fred: it's so interesting to learn, through your excellent "instructor's images", a lot about a profession -and so important activity- we seldom hear about - except in bad days of any level! Thank you for this good report! Congratulations also for the featured photo of the day - most amazing and unusual, the history of the "See beautiful Rock City"! And thanks also for your kind words about our "Winter Narcissus"! - Best wishes from SW France: Kaethi and Henri

What a beautiful way to honor heroes of the 21st century. Married to an Damage Control Navy man [retired] and living in a village what were twice saved from varnishing in a fire blast I think the work of firefighters is still underestimated. Your photos are superb and serve the theme well. Thanks for your very kind entry in my guestbook. I dedicated the requested flower to you. But since this photo is in one of my older albums I dedicated another photo of the same plant in my new album "Color of Flowers" to you. [The new album is a special thank you to all my webshots friends] Have a nice day, take care Heidi

Wonderful Collection of images from your Emergency Response Fire Fighting Training, Fred!! Being in the Oil & Gas Industry Offshore in the GOM (25 years), I've been throught about "10" Industrial Fire Fighting schools and I can Really Appreciate a Great Weather Day for it!!! Superb exposures and colors throughout my friend, Great eye for composition!! You hope to never have to use the training, but I guess that isn't Reality, huh!! Again, Thanks a Bunch for all of your heartfelt comments, looking forward to your other albums!! GB, Ted

Yes, Fred, that L@dybeetle *is* my car! I've had her for four years now and love her! We've driven it from FL to Canada, good gas mileage and very comfortable. Mike has long legs and w/only two of us in the car and his seat pushed back, he has more leg room in the bug than he had in his Ford 350 duelie (how DO you spell that?). ... He also, of course, knows what it's like to drive a Rescue Truck (18 yrs), an engine or ladder truck! The Bug with its turbo engine is quite a little car! ... When people ask me, I tell them that I always get comments from kids and old ladies, the latter are jealous that I have the nerve! *grin* ... It brought back lots of memories to go through this album of yours. The service you fellows give is wonderful! ... Take care and stay safe! Judy
