    • Hallie: I was a kid in Bedford through the 1960's and would ride my bike out to the Springs and eplore. I was a kid when it was open not opened. It was built back in the late 1800's or early 1900's. Very remote area to get to but breath taking. They have built a better road to get to the hotel now, But still remote. Well worth the trip back in time and the restoration inside and out is over the top and not over restored. They kept the old traditional paintings and art and funiture but restored. A twist of modern conveniences as today's visitors would expect. The town of Bedford is much as it has always been and kinda of a time capsule even today. I always enjoy going back to visit and seeing the hotel and surrounding areas and history. Steven W Stull

    • Thank You for the comments on the old hotel. I to was a kid when the hotel was open in it's last few years. I use to ride my Schwinn Stingray bike around the grounds back in the 60's. I explored the cave that is across the street back the path into the woods aways. The cave is still there and I entered the cave again at the time I took these photos about 1998. The visit was in the spring. Only the guard of the grounds was there. I went into the horse bard and upstairs. For many years after the closing the bridge that crossed over the road was still there but removed by the time I made this visit. I have many more photos of this visit I will post soon. The spring across the road in it's sad condition and some of the gazebo's about the property. It is so sad to see this relic of time slowly break down to the harsh weather in this area. • A footnote to my recent comment. During one of my visits during the rehab work at the Springs, I found in the dirt, a 1938 Mercury Dime in the parking area and could only speculate what that dime experienced over all these years...

    • I have had a cabin located in Belden (just N. of Bedford) for almost 30 years. I had visited the Springs several times prior to it closing. I was there when the contents of the Springs was auctioned off, room by room. How sad for Bedford's history. Now, years later, the Bedford Springs is coming back to life. I have watched the progress of the rehab work and each and every time that I visited, I get more and more excited with its opening day. I trust it will not only breath new life into the wonderful Springs Hotel but Bedford County as a whole. With much fondness and excitement, we wait-the Snipes family.

    • Hi, I really love your pictures of the Bedford Springs Hotel. It is one of my favorite places to visit in the area and I actually just drove there today to look at it, and much to my dismay, they have already begun the renovation. It really sort of broke my heart to see it looking like such a mess with all the construction vehicles around, so I really appreciate the fact that someone got some beautiful pictures of it while it still was old and beautiful. It is very sad to see it tampered with, but I am just hoping that it can be revived to look as magnificent as it did before.
