A footnote to my recent comment. During one of my visits during the rehab work at the Springs, I found in the dirt, a 1938 Mercury Dime in the parking area and could only speculate what that dime experienced over all these years...

I have had a cabin located in Belden (just N. of Bedford) for almost 30 years. I had visited the Springs several times prior to it closing. I was there when the contents of the Springs was auctioned off, room by room. How sad for Bedford's history. Now, years later, the Bedford Springs is coming back to life. I have watched the progress of the rehab work and each and every time that I visited, I get more and more excited with its opening day. I trust it will not only breath new life into the wonderful Springs Hotel but Bedford County as a whole. With much fondness and excitement, we wait-the Snipes family.

Hi, I really love your pictures of the Bedford Springs Hotel. It is one of my favorite places to visit in the area and I actually just drove there today to look at it, and much to my dismay, they have already begun the renovation. It really sort of broke my heart to see it looking like such a mess with all the construction vehicles around, so I really appreciate the fact that someone got some beautiful pictures of it while it still was old and beautiful. It is very sad to see it tampered with, but I am just hoping that it can be revived to look as magnificent as it did before.
